This 55mm Tiffen Graduated ND Digital HT Filter is a graduated neutral density filter that helps to specifically darken skies and other bright areas of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a feathered line between the density and clear areas. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and the 0.6 optical density provides a 2 stop reduction in light from entering the lens. This filter also features a rotating filter ring for flexibility when placing the density over specific areas of the scene.

The Digital HT coating is a high transmission multicoating that surpasses military specifications for hardness and durability. This optical purity combined with high scratch-resistance results in an easy-to-clean filter with superb imaging quality. They also feature low-profile titanium filter rings for increased strength and vignetting reduction.

0.6 ND graduated filter for darkening skies and other bright areas of the image.

Feathered edge is neither soft nor hard, providing a natural-appearing taper between the density and clear areas of the filter.

Neutral density filters do not affect the overall coloration of the image.

Rotating filter ring allows more control over placement of density in the image.

Digital HT multicoating provides increased strength, durability, and optical clarity for greater light transmission and protection against scratches.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this lens compatible with a Canon 70D?

A: Yes. It has become my go to utility lens.

Q: 2. Does it work on Canon EOS 60D?

A: Yes the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens is fully compatible with the 60D.

Q: 3. Does this version really weigh 2kg? Or do I have to purchase the Duclos version for the 980g weight?

A: the manufacturers specification lists the weight of the lens at 4.4 lb / 2 kg

Q: 4. difference between nx300 & nx300m?

A: The main differences are the flip/touch screen and the wifi connectivity. The camera takes good stills but the video function doesn't perform well. I actually sent the 300M back and now have a Panasonic GX7. For what it retails for now it is one of the best mirrorless cameras available in my opinion. It is a micro 4/3 camera and not a cmos sensor but the image quality is super and the sensor difference is insignificant for general, everyday usage.

Q: 5. Does this lens have manual aperture control

A: Although the lens has the diaphragm that physically creates the aperture, the camera body is where I set aperture for this lens. My Canon body does have an aperture priority mode that allows me to select the aperture I desire. This lens will shoot with the aperture I set using the Canon body. Not sure if I understood the question, but hopefully this helps.

Q: 6. Hot shoe looks standard size. Is it?

A: Yes,The hot shoe is standard size.

Q: 7. Is this lens compatible with the Sony a6000?

A: Yes, the Sony FE 55mm f/1.8 lens is compatible with the Sony A6000.

Q: 8. Could you use a 1.5x or 2x telephoto adapter on this lens?

A: The Fujinon MK18-55mm, being a wide to medium zoom, is an unlikely candidate for a teleconverter. Generally speaking, teleconverters are only effective on fast, high quality prime telephoto lenses. Use on other lenses is usually not successful. Mostly the issues are the lens becoming too dark for proper auto or manual focus, softening of the image, introduction of chromatic aberration and inability to mate due to conflicts in design. At this time there are only two E mount teleconverters available on the market. They are made by Sony and the only lens compatible with them at this time is the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS.

Q: 9. I own a C100 and i am considering the 17-55 2.8 for hand held video - I also own a 24-70 2.8 that i use for photography (brilliant lens for stills) but, i have read the 17-55 2.8 has better image quality then the 24-70 2.8 because the 17-55 2.8 was built for crop sensor - has anyone experienced this? Thanks.

A: I am very happy with this lens for stills and video an my 70 D. Couldn't ask for any more sharpness than it provides.

Q: 10. I am traveling on vacation to Europe. How does this lens differ from the Canon 24-105 L 4D lens that comes with the Canon 5d Mark 2 camera? What are the pros and cons? I already have that lens.

A: The 17-55mm 2.8 lens will be specifically for a crop sensor camera. It will have an equivalent focal length of about 24-85mm on APS-C crop sensor. You would not be able to use the 17-55mm on your 5D3, due to the smaller image circle. The closest equivalent for full frame would be the 24-70mm 2.8 L:Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM LensB&H # CA247028LII Mfr # 5175B002I would stick to the 24-105mm, unless you need a faster aperture.

I am a professional children's portrait painter & a serious long time amature slr user. I use my cameras to shoot hundreds of action photos of young children. The shutter speed is great, I don't miss a nuance in their expressions...I see it I get it!! Placement of controls make sense. It took a few minutes to change the camera's settings to accept my o-l-d pentax lenses, but I don't have to reset it to change between new & old again. Although the lenses are 25 years old & manuel focus I don't lose any time getting what I want & shooting. We have nick-named the camers Lil' Red, and I couldn't be happier. The size and weight are a plus for me too. My daughter loves her Nikon D-60 but is much impressed with Lil Red! I wish the video was higher than 720 but at this price I'm happy just to have it!!

This is my first DSLR purchase as up until now there wasn't a camera that was close enough to doing exactly what I expected if I was going to make the leap. The K-x fills this void quite nicely. I looking for live view, HD video, body image stabilization, AA batteries, etc. but now I also get great high-ISO performance and access to the world's largest selection of lenses. My first prime lens just arrived from auction purchase (50mm f/1.7). I also prefer the AA battery format as it has insured that I was able to capture some important moments in the past (features don't matter when you're away from home and your proprietary battery dies). Make sure to update the firmware (fixes battery life concern) as I have had GREAT battery performance on my Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables (I highly recommend them for use in cameras). Only possible complaint I would have is that the live view is not as useful as the Fuji SLR-like point and shoot I'm replacing since it slows down the auto focus and shooting performance. I have already learned to live with this and have gained a better understanding of why more serious photographers usually use the viewfinder anyway (better pictures).Overall, very pleased with the camera, the price, the kit lenses (although I think I will be eventually getting the 55-300mm zoom to replace 50-200mm...
