Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. My VideoMicro is not functioning on my BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Are they not compatible?

A: This is for DSLR and you have to be pretty close to your subject with this mic. If you want clean audio for your video this is not for you

Q: 2. will this rode video micro work with the Sony hdrcx900 camcorder?

A: The Rode VideoMicro is compatible with the Sony HDR CX900.

Q: 3. Does the shock mount on the mic work well I have heard it creates a lot of noise when moving your camera is that true?

A: The mic itself works well, but there is not really any shock absorption to it, so yes, there is the possibility that the mic will pick up handling noise.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with the RX-100 IV?

A: Unfortunately, the Sony ECM-GZ1M Zoom Microphone for Cameras with Multi-Interface Shoe is not compatible with the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV Digital Camera.

Q: 5. The included deadcat muff is only good enough for mild side and back wind. It's inadequate for stronger wind. Does anyone have a recommendation for a more robust wind noise cancellation solution for this for 20-30mph wind hitting the back of it? (Shooting while riding a Segway). Thank you for your help!!!

A: You can try layering a foam windscreen underneath the deadcat and that should provide much better protection from wind noise.

Q: 6. Will this microphone loose the Noise Cancelation and Microphone Directionality functions on analog mode? e.g. Sony a7III & Sony a6500.

A: No it will not. Everything should work fine regardless of the mode you are in

Q: 7. Does it work with the Sony FS7 camera?

A: I don't have FS7 camera. I use the mic on Sony A7RII and A6300, both camera have multi-interface hot shoe, which supply power to mic. Mic works fine on both camera, but is only mono. If your camera has current multi-interface hot shoe it should work, but if your camera has the older Active Interface Shoe, it will not work.

Q: 8. can this be used on the Nikon D800 and D810? Thanks.

A: Yes you can use it with your Nikon D800. The Rode Rode Video Micro runs on plug in power which your camera has. You should also know the Micro has 2 different connectors. If you look at the connector and see 3 black rings that is for a phone. It's called a TRRS connector. For your camera you want a TRS which is a standard stereo connector with only 2 black rings on the connector. Both are 3.5mm connectors. If you get the one for your camera it will come with an adapter so you can use it with your phone or camera.

Q: 9. Will this mic work with a dual hot shoe splitter on an a7riii? I want to use it alongside a small video light that has it's own power, so only one side has to be hot for the mic. And does the dual hot shoe need to be specifically for Sony cameras? Thanks for the help.

A: Unfortunately a multi-interface splitter does not exist as far as we have seen. In order to use a microphone along with a light, my best advice would be to select a different microphone that allows a cable to run into the microphone input on the camera. These are two possible microphones that would work in a similar price range. B&H # ROVIDEOMICRO and POSCL1075.

Q: 10. What is the USB port for?

A: The Micro USB port is an output port.
