A: This is meant specifically for Version 1 of the Crane. It may not work with Version 2, which comes with its own case.

Q: 2. Is there a protective cap for the module connnector on the H5 when not using a module? I'm asking in order to use the H5 with a shotgun mic and no module to reduce size and weight.

A: There is no protective cap included or available.

Q: 3. does this have any analog outputs?

A: The Zoom H5 features a dedicated 1/8 stereo line out jack. The headphone output can also be used as an analog line output if necessary.

Q: 4. Does an SD Card come with the recorder?

A: Yes it does, but it is only a small one. I was using it the other day for an event and we ran out of memory. Best to grab a 16 or 32GB card if you plan to record events over 1 hour.

Q: 5. Will recording a dual wireless mic receiver via XLR plus the capsule stereo mics in multi-track give me 4 separate audio tracks?

A: When you are using the mic capsules and have channels 1&2 linked to accommodate a stereo input, you would receive 2 stereo audio tracks that have 4 separate channels (Left and Right channel on each track).

Q: 6. can I use my H4n recorder without batteries using an ac adapter?I purchased an AD-17A/d but not sure how to us it ?? Help pls

A: The H4n does not power from the USB connection. It requires a DC adapter, the AD-14.

A: The H5 supports a +4 dB (professional) line input level

Q: 8. Has anyone used this with a dynamic mic with or without a preamp?

A: Yes, I've used it with a Shure SM10A head mounted mic and it's worked well, using the built-in preamp in the Zoom. You have to turn up the gain pretty high, usually, though, but that's true in general for this particular mic. I use it to record people speaking for phonetic research.

A: I record from RODE wireless lav mics. So, a couple mini-plug to XLR adapters have come in handy.
