The Tiffen Bay 60 UV Protector Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings. This filter is compatible with lenses featuring a bayonet filter mount, such as those made by Hasselblad or Rollei.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there version of the QS-60 v2 that has a second screw hole?

A: No, but any brand plate that is Arca type will work, click the link below to view; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1301112-REG/really_right_stuff_bp_cs_plate_multi_camera_conventional_plate.html

Q: 2. Use of cotton batting concerns me because cotton is rotten if it gets wet; wish it were Thinsulate, Holofil, etc. How water-resistant is the shell in rain or wet snow?

A: I sprayed it with additional waterproofer but honestly havent used it yet. I dont think there isanything that will keep our gear completely dry. Its well made and one can operate camera pretty easily with it on. If it completely fails (i dont expect that) it will be a wonderful handwarmer. I may try it for a very cold football game just for the hand warming factor

Q: 3. Would this work well as a camera noise silencer for wedding photographers?

A: I don't think it would work well as a silencer for weddings because it has some bulk. While it attenuates sound somewhat, camera use is a little slower with this cover in place. I would get a mirrorless camera or use the electronic curtain shutter if your camera has one. Then you are not walking around indoors with a winter parka on your camera.

Q: 4. Is this the same depth as the other rectangular Rectabox (which is size 90 x 110 cm)?

A: No, the Elinchrom Rotalux Rectabox (90 x 110cm / 35 x 43") is 16.5 inches deep while this Elinchrom Rotalux Rectabox (60 x 80cm / 24 x 31.5") is only 12 inches deep.

Q: 5. Will this work with a smaller mirrorless camera such as an Olympus OMD EM1 or is it too large?

A: From our experiences and reported customer reviews, it works best on medium/larger DSLRs or mirrorless cameras. The main factor for comfort and utility would be the overall size of the lens. Smaller ones on a mirrorless system might make the user feel like the camera is engulfed in the DSLR Parka.

Q: 6. Will the QS60v.2 fit the Vanguard TBH250 head? If not, what would?

A: Yes, the following quick release plate will work with your unit.

Q: 7. Will it fit over a Nikon z9?

A: Yes, the Ruggard DSLR Parka Cold and Rain Protector for Cameras and Camcorders (Black) will fit gripped cameras like the Nikon Z9 Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 8. how does the 8mm shaft remove?

A: The shaft unscrews after the umbrella is properly installed on the moonlight. This allows the unit to get as close to the subject as possible. This product is not intended for use with hot lights or modeling lights over 250 watts If your using a shoe mount flash You can see a demo of the installation on youtube ( https://youtube.be/KNAIaSWyPV4?t=1}

Q: 9. Will this work with an Elinchrom Style RX monolight? I read an old review from 2004 saying the shaft is actually less than 7 mm and does not stay secure in the Elinchrom 7 mm shaft tube. Maybe this newer version has addressed that issue. Anyone have experience using this umbrella with Elinchrom?

A: The Elinchrom Style RX monolights have a 7mm slot on just below the flash tube and an 8mm adapter where the stand adapter and the light would meet. That being said, this Photek Softlighter Umbrella with the 7mm and 8mm shafts is compatible.

Q: 10. Has anyone used a quantum Qflash T5D-R with this umbrella? Does the speed light opening have enough space to allow a Qflash to fit?

A: From the manufacturer, Yes you can use the Photek HSD-60K with the Quantum Flash you mentioned. The opening on the HSD diffuser is large enough.
