Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Which dolly works with this for mostly cinematography work? Also if legs are taken to the lowest height, will it still fit on the dolly?

A: The following Manfrotto dollies are compatible with this tripod: 114, 127, 127VS

Q: 2. Whats the benefit for going with the shorter 500BALLSH over the 500BALL (or vice versa)? Personal preference?

A: They both work at the lowest tripod's position, but if the ground is not flat and has some important asperities like in the forest or mountain, I think the shorter the better, as it may avoid bumping on a root for exemple. I chose the 500BALLSH because I also use my Manfrotto head with the Manfrotto 529 Hi Hat. Same reason as above.

Q: 3. Will this tripod work with the Oben GH-50 Gimbal Head?

A: Yes. I use a Wimberley WH200 that is very similar. The tripod is very strong and stable.

Q: 4. Curious, the details say this tripod weighs 4.4 lbs, but the specs say 3.2 lbs. That's a pretty big difference. Which is correct?

A: The correct weight of this tripod is 3.4lbs.

Q: 5. Will the manfrotto 410 Junior had fit this tripod?

A: Yes. I bought both of these items together.

Q: 6. Can I attach the This XPRO 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head to this tripod?

A: The Manfrotto 190go! Carbon Fiber M-Series Tripod has a 3/8"-16 stud and the Manfrotto XPRO 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head has a 3/8"-16 socket. So you could attach the head without an adapter.

Q: 7. Is there a mid-level spreader that is compatible with this tripod?

A: The Manfrotto 536 Carbon Fiber Video Tripod is not designed to be used with spreaders.

Q: 8. Any recommendations on what half bowl to purchase with these sticks?

A: We believe you are asking for a half ball tripod head. If so, it does of course matter what camera you are using and what type of video work you will be doing. Here are two on the affordable side of the tripod range. Manfrotto 504HD Fluid Video Head B&H # MA504HD and the Libec RH25D Fluid Head B&H # LIRH25D. The MA504HD is hugely popular while the Libec is simply no nonsense quality. On the heavier side, you can consider then Manfrotto 509HD Professional Video Head B&H # MA509HD for a nice match of head and tripod or the VariZoom VZFH100 Fluid Head (100mm) B&H # VAVZFH100 which has a very good review.

Q: 9. Does this come with a half bowl adapter for either a 75 or 100mm flat base fluid head?

A: Yes, this comes with a 75/100 mm half bowl adapter.

Q: 10. Is it possible to use this tripod with a photo head? I'd like to purchase this for both video and photo use. I would use the 504HD for video work, then swap it out for a photo head. Is there any way to adapt this tripod for a photo head? Thank you!

A: You certainly can use this tripod with a photo head. Since the 536 has a 75mm bowl on top, you will need an adapter. This will adapt from the bowl to a flat base with a 3/8 -16 screw for mounting the photo head. Manfrotto 520BALLSH 75mm Short Half-Ball B&H # MA520BSH.
