Fitment will vary by body shape and size, but it is adjustable across a range of larger torsos specifically to address the issue you mention. There is no specific minimum size given by the manufacturer, but given user experiences we could recommend it for persons wearing at least a large US size shirt or larger (e.g. XL, XXL, XXL, etc.). You may also want to wear a sweatshirt (A.K.A. jersey, jumper, etc.) underneath it for additional padding, better fitment, and more comfort. Some users have sewn the straps to be shorter to fit medium-size torsos. Others have added padding by opening the zippers in the pads, removing the internal foam padding, and tracing those included pads on pieces of foam that were subsequently cut out to add to or make new pads to put back inside the (zippered) padding holders.
