The 8.5L, yellow iM2075 Storm Case from Pelican is made from injection-molded, HPX high-performance resin to be tough, lightweight, and resistant to impacts. Airtight and watertight, it has a permanently attached Vortex valve that automatically keeps the air pressure regulated without letting in water. Press & Pull latches open with the push of a button, yet remain securely closed under impact or stress. The case has unbreakable molded-in hasps that accept user-supplied, standard-sized padlocks. Hinges with integrated feet hold fast under pressure and create a flat surface for upright stability. Comfortably carry the case using the double-layered, soft-grip, solid-core handle. Interior foam cushions and protects your sensitive gear.

Q: 1. I want to record my film dialogue with my boom mic and connect it to this. dose this have this feature where i can record one track at lower DB and the other normal?
A: Dear Nachoketh, I understand what you are trying to do, you want to separate the same track and record 3db difference between the two. You can do this by splitting the input with a Y connector, but the question I have for you is why do this? A good sound recordist doesn't need two tracks of the same thing because he or she gets it right the first time. Only once did a producer ask me to do that and I was insulted because it implied I didn't know how to record sound. The recordist should wear headphones and hear what is being recorded. You adjust the volume accordingly. This unit is a digital recorder, it is great for voice or music but might offer problems with effects. Large sound, like explosions, or gun shots are tough to record in digital mode because to make them sound correct you need to over-record, but with digital you can't. There are tricks you can do in post by slowing the sound down and pushing the volume. That can work. Good luck. Best, Jonathan Slon.
Q: 2. Is the H5 compatable with the Nikon D3300?
A: The H5 line out port can feed over any male-male 3.5mm cord to the mic in port of the D3300. But putting the H5 atop a D3300 seems bulky/top-heavy, and the H5's capsule mics pick up a ton of handling noise. (You can reduce this a fair amount by turning on the H5's high-pass filter, but this trims any sounds your subjects make below the cut-off frequency selectable from 80 to 120 Hz.) The H5 works best when mounted by itself, then never touched while recording. If you just want to upgrade the D3300's built-in mic, think about the Rode Micro, or similar mics. The Micro is a better price-point match to the D3300 (than is the H5), is small and light, requires no batteries, and comes with a dead cat windsock for outdoor use (prevents wind sounds from drowning out your subjects). Or, if you really want to spend a few hundred, consider a short shotgun like the Rode video mic pro or something similar by Sennheiser. The sound upgrade is noticeable (from the Micro) and they add more direction selectivity, so you can avoid recording more ambient distraction noises (at the expense of frequency-coloring the reduced-volume ambient noises that get recorded, but the net result is worth it in noise settings).Keith's right about the H5 recording better (far less compressed) sound, but it mostly only matters if you plan to adjust your audio in post, such as removing white noise, hums, whines, etc. (using software like Adobe Audition or the freeware Audacity). That can make nice improvements in listenability, but most folks using a D3300 aren't looking for that much fuss.
Q: 3. I just recently bought a DSLR camera and was wondering if anyone had used the XY mic for vlogs or where you need to focus on someone for sound in an environment that's is louder than normal. Is the XY mic okay or should I invest in the shotgun attachment as well?
A: I'm with ROBERT W. on this. Also, the XY records stereo which, to my ear, is usually problematic in loud environments. I use a Rode VideoMic Pro on my DSLR within 5-10 feet of the speaker which captures audio nicely. I'd like to add a shotgun mic like the Rode NTG2 to use with my Zoom for primary sound and then use the Rode VideoMic Pro with my 80D for reference audio. I think this would provide the most flexibility for the run-and-gun and interview-type video work I do.
Q: 4. I have a Sony FDR-AX33. Is it necessary to have an adapter (Zoom HS-1)?
A: YYes - this is the recommended adapter: Sony Camera Shoe Mount B&H # SOVCTCSM1
Q: 5. I see that you can record a line-in via the XY module (e.g. for lav mics), but can you record the XY at the same time as that line in? So, could I have a lav mic plugged into the line-in _and_ also record the XY audio to get ambient/location sound separately from the lav?
A: You can definitely combine the XY module with a lav mic, however, the 3.5mm input on the XY module is for a line level signal. Since you want to connect a mic and not a line level signal, I would recommend using an XLR adapter with your lav mic and connecting the mic to one of the XLR-1/4" combo jacks. If your lav mic requires plug-in power, you can use Rode's VXLR Plus 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (B&H # ROVXLRP) which will convert phantom power to plug-in power. If the lav mic uses a battery for power or does not require any power, use the Rode VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter (B&H # ROVXLR) which just converts the connector to XLR. The XLR input offers the best options for recording the XY mics and lav mic simultaneously.
Q: 6. hey, can I use it on a Panasonic HC-x1000 pro-video Camera? are they compatible?
A: Hi Mehran, Not certain I bought this newer version for a friend unfortunately the firmware update was not included and not available to download so it just didn't work. Previous model worked great! Had to return it trouble free with B&H so that was good. Good Luck
Q: 7. Does this kit come with wind blocker?
A: There is a foam rubber thingy included that works fine, but doesn't keep the wind out 100% in all cases. You can buy attachments that are better, but it has worked well for outdoor use for my podcast projects.
Q: 8. Can i use this device with my rode video mic pro plus on a boom pole setup ? The plan is to connect my rode video mic pro plus directly to the zoom h5 using the 3.5mm cable on a boom pole setup . Is it doable ?
A: Yes. That will be possible but by using the 3.5mm input on the zoom you will disable the onboard microphone. If you wish to be able to use the Zoom's mics you will need to adapt the 3.5mm to XLR with this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387850-REG/Rode_VXLR_VXLR_Mono_Mini_Jack.html?sts=pi&pim=Y
Q: 9. Can Sennheiser ME66/K6 mic be plugged in here? If so, how? Please explain in detail.
A: Any mic that has an XLR should be able to plug in.
Q: 10. Can the back-up recording be used for any inputs or does it have to be only for the L/R mix?
A: The back-up recording is only for the L/R mix.
