A: Sounds defective to me. Tightening the pan lock knob on mine all the way completely locks the panning.

A: You cannot directly attach the RC 2 quick release to this head. You can use Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate B&H # MA323. This can be attached to the MVH500AH 500PLONG Quick Release Plate.

Q: 9. From the specs, it is noted that the counter balance is fixed at 2.4kg. However, even with my heaviest lens, the total weight of my setup is only about 1.8 kg. A: ideally you want to match the counterbalance to the payload. In your case it is close but not perfect so it will drift slightly. if you want to ensure the tripod head will hold you will need to engage the lock.
