The Pelican iM3200 Storm Case with Foam (Olive Drab) is an injection-molded case made of HPX high performance resin, that is virtually unbreakable, dent-resistant and shatter-resistant. It is tough, rugged, lightweight, airtight and watertight. There is a permanently attached Vortex valve that automatically adjusts air pressure without letting in water, and won't unscrew from the case. Press & Pull latches open with the push of a button, yet stay closed securely under impact or stress. The case has unbreakable molded-in hasps that allow the addition of standard size padlocks. It has hinges with integrated feet that hold fast under impact, and create a flat surface for upright stability. It is transported by two double-layered, soft-grip, solid-core handles and rugged in-line wheels.

This case has a multilayer solid foam bottom and a convoluted foam pad in the lid.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How well does this unit handle very loud low end frequencies aka lots of bass? I have an event that needs to be recorded at highest quality on a budget. Or any suggestions which field recorder would do the highest quality job for the lowest price? Thanks!

A: I cannot speak to the frequency response of the built in mics. I have mainly used the unit with external mics and also have yet to do any music recording. The dialog that I have recorded is exceptionally clear and full frequency. (as full as the spoken word becomes)

Q: 2. When taking of the capsules, what is the best way to protect the contacts? Is there a product for this particular purpose? Thanks.

A: There is not. I recommend placing them in heavy-duty plastic zip lock (freezer)bags or photo lens pouches.

Q: 3. Can this be combined with the Zoom EXH-6 to give it a total of 4 XLR inputs?

A: Yes, you can use the EXH-6 module with the Zoom H5 to enable recording of up to four external mic and/or line level signals simultaneously.

Q: 4. What is the frequency response?

A: I'm sorry, but Zoom does not list frequency response specs for the H5 or for the XYH-6 microphone capsule.

Q: 5. Does H5 support line in levels of +4dBu, i.e professional line level?

A: The H5 supports a +4 dB (professional) line input level

Q: 6. Is this a good device for recording Live karaoke with it's built in Mics. Is it too Much of a device or too little? I am new to these devices and want to truly hear how I sound while singing. Not while I am singing. and hearing my self in my head

A: This recorder is a great choice for capturing either the live performance in the room with the built-in mics, or for connecting the inputs on the bottom to a mixer or speaker output for a direct recording.

Q: 7. Does this make 2 left and right mono channel? Meaning, will it make exact same left and right channel like you can do in Zoom Hn4?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. What's the battery life with continuous use of alkaline batteries?

A: When phantom-powering two typical mics, I get a bit over one hour from brand-name NiCD or NiMH (the H5 takes four AAs). That drain rate is mostly due to phantom power's heavy draw. Fresh alkalines last a bit longer, maybe a hair over 90 minutes. The rare times I've used my H5 without feeding phantom power to a mic pair, the batteries last much longer: e.g., after 2-2.5 hours, the initially fresh batteries show around 2/3 full.TIP 1: If you shoot near wall outlets, you can connect the H5 via its mini-USB port to any small cheap USB charger by any USB cable you have laying around, to run off wall current forever. I do this for shooting plays. This way, I can leave the LCD setting to stay lit (i.e., no power saving feature to turn off the LCD backlight after x minutes), so I can easily see recording levels at all times.TIP 2: If you shoot away from any wall outlets, you can still power the H5 externally via the same mnii-USB port by using any external power pack (like folks use for cell phones and tablets on long plane trips). Just make sure the connection is secure. A little gaf tape is good insurance.

Q: 9. does this have any analog outputs?

A: The Zoom H5 features a dedicated 1/8 stereo line out jack. The headphone output can also be used as an analog line output if necessary.

Q: 10. Phantom

A: Yes, the unit does have Phantom Power.
