Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is this 43x0.5 or 43x0.75?

A: The Heliopan 43-46mm Step-Up Ring (#243) has a 0.75 thread pitch.

Q: 2. Hi what is the outer diameter of this Step-up Ring?Actually I am looking for a Push-on lens cap...Any brand that you recommend, which fits?Thank you

A: Rather than a push-on cap, you will be better off using a Hood Hat type of covering, such as those seen at the following link: http://bhpho.to/1w9ZAZT

Q: 3. Hi ... What is the difference between the Heliopan #143 62/77mm Step-Up Ring, and the Heliopan #144 62/77mm Step-Up Ring??? The descriptions do not say ... other than price, of course. ...Robert G.

A: The Heliopan ring, # 700-144 is a special model that can accept both 77mm threaded filters, as well as Series 8.5 type filters. Our product link for this model on our website is slowly being changed to reflect the new information we received about it since receiving your inquiry.

Q: 4. Would this ring permit the use of 55mm threaded filters on a lens with a Series VII filter-thread? The Leica R 90mm f2 (old version, not the later version) is the lens I have in mind.

A: No, that adapter is for lenses that have a 54mm thread. Series 7 is not 54. If you have a retaining ring, most of those are 54 mm it might work. But the adapter alone will not work. This is a retaining ring, General Brand Series 7 Retaining Ring BH #GBRRS7 https://bhpho.to/3bJHVPU

Q: 5. What is the thread on the 100mm side? 0.75 or 1.0?

A: The thread on both sides is 1.0 mm or coarse.

Q: 6. I need to step up from 48mm to 77mm. Can I use this ring in combination with a 58 to 77mm ring?

A: To mount 77mm filters on a lens with 48mm threads, you can use the Heliopan 48-58mm Step-Up Ring (#184) with any 58-77mm Step-Up Ring. Sensei PRO 58-77mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring, BH #SESURPA5877, is a good option.

Q: 7. Can anyone tell me the outer diameter of the 77mm step up ring(s) ? I'm interested to know if I can use a 80mm push on cap over it.

A: The OD is probably 79 or 80mm. You will have to try it with your cap, This is never an exact science due to the fact that dimensions are never precise from cap to cap and ring to ring.

Q: 8. What is the thickness of this filter in mm, especially the outside 82mm diameter portion?

A: The thickness of this step up ring is about 4mm.

Q: 9. Will this step up ring work with a Leica Noctilux 50mm 0.95 lens?

A: The Heliopan 60-77mm Step-Up Ring (#644) (B&H# HESUR6077) will fit the 60mm filter thread of the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. Lens (Black) (B&H# LE50095NB). As such, you'll be able to add 77mm filters to that lens.

Q: 10. What is the outside diameter of this ring? Is it 100mm so that I can use a push on lens cap?

A: The outside diameter is around 97mm-98mm. A 100mm lens cap will be loose.

Use this occasionally as a step up ring on my Summilux 25mm f/1.4 (MFT) lens. Solid, nicely engineering and of course you pay for it. Looks like it will last a lifetime.

These step-up rings have impeccable fit and finish. You can feel and see the quality. I will buy no other brand. Never had on stick on a lens or filter. Perfectly machined quality brass is the reason.

These brass step-up rings are such a joy to use over the cheap aluminum rings. They don't bind; and thread like magic.

I bought it, cause is the unique 58 to 82 step up ring found here. But you can see why it was the most expensive. Now I would prefer only buy heliopan rings.

Just what you would expect from Heliopan, a really good step-up ring that won't bind, or get twisted out of shape from use. If you need a step-up ring, don't hesitate to get this one. This one is a bit more expensive, but worth every penny compared to the off brand step-up rings made from aluminum.
