Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can you use this lens on an apsc format pentax?

A: The Lensbaby Velvet 56mm f/1.6 Lens for Pentax K (Black) is compatible with both full frame and cropped sensor cameras.

Q: 2. I'm assuming this will work with the completely manual film K1000?

A: Yes, the Lensbaby Velvet 56mm f/1.6 will work with film and digital Pentax K-mount cameras.

Q: 3. Just making sure it will work with my Nikon D 7000? I don't think there should be a problem but I thought I would ask before purchasing. Thank you

A: It should work just fine. Remember this is manual focus/exposure lens, but I'm sure you already knew that. I love this little lens, it produces the most beautiful soft focus images when shot wide open. Because this is a full frame format (FX) lens, when used on your D7000 DX body it will have the angle of view of an 84mm lens, perfect for portrait work. Good luck!

Q: 4. Auto or manual f stops ?

A: The Lensbaby Velvet 56mm f/1.6 Lens for Sony E is fully manual and would have a manual aperture ring for setting the lens' desired f-stop setting.

Q: 5. Will this work with a gh4?

A: Yes, the Velvet 56 for Micro 4/3 will be compatible with your GH4 camera. It will work in Aperture Priority mode and your in-camera light meter will work or you can shoot in Manual mode.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with the Olympus EM-5? the first one not the mark II

A: Yes, the Velvet 56 will be compatible with your Olympus EM-5 camera. It will work in Aperture Priority mode and your in-camera light meter will work. Or you can shoot in Manual mode.

Q: 7. Is the Lensbaby Velvet 56mm lens compatible with the Nikon D7000 camera?

A: If you buy the Lensbaby Velvet 56mm lens with the Nikon mount, then it will fit onto the D7000 (or almost all other Nikons using the F mount). In that sense, it is compatible. But it if your definition of Compatible means you expect to use autofocus and the auto exposure controls on the camera, then you must know that this lens is strictly a manual focus, manual exposure lens. One will have to focus the lens by turning the focus ring by hand and set the f-stop with the f-stop ring on the lens.

Q: 8. Is there a way to use the Nikon D90 meter with the Lensbaby 56mm velvet?

A: No, there is not. According to page 230 of the Nikon D90 User Manual under "Compatible Non-CPU Lenses," Nikon states that the lens may only be used when the camera is in mode [M]. Selecting another mode disables the shutter release. Aperture must be adjusted manually via the lens aperture ring, and the camera's autofocus system, metering, electronic analog exposure display, depth-of-field preview and i-TTL flash control cannot be used. As such, I would recommend to first take a picture with your desired settings, then review the image on the camera's rear LCD screen, then adjust your camera settings based on your image review and capture another image (then repeat as necessary).

Q: 9. Is this lens compatible with aps-c? Would it mean it is equivalent to an 84mm macro lens?

A: Yes, it is compatible with APS-C which it'll give an 84mm equivalent focal length.

Q: 10. Will this lens work on a Canon 5D Mk 4 in Aperture Priority mode or only in Manual?

A: Being that this lens lacks any type of electronic contacts, it can only be used in manual mode along with your 5D Mark IV, including manual focus.
