Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How much weight can this hold?

A: It's pretty sturdy for a light weight stand. I would support any mic I can think of, but I would not put a $1000 mic on a boom at full height. Nice and compact. If super compact and full standard height is what you're looking for this will fit the bill. The heaviest 3-section stand is the AKG.

Q: 2. Does the legs can unscrew and disconnect? I want to connect table clamp to it

A: No, the legs on the Auray MS-65CL Professional Mic Stand do not unscrew and disconnect. Perhaps you may want to check out the Auray Telescoping Boom Arm Mic Stand with Table Clamp Mount (B&H # AUMSDTCL32) for a mic stand with a boom arm and table clamp.

Q: 3. does this stand come with clips to attach mic cable to stand?

A: Yes, one snap-on clip.

Q: 4. I need to get a boom arm for video shoots but I have had bad experience with microphone stands. Is it possible to fit this arm on a light stand or does it only fit on a mic stand?

A: You will need an adapter bushing (B&H # AUADCOMBOS) to connect the two. The boom has 5/8 female threads and your light stand probably has either 1/4 or 3/8 male threads.

Q: 5. Can it hold heavy large diaphragm mic securely? Thanks

A: Absolutely. This is the most stable tripod base mic stand there is. Its larger base makes a significant difference. If the heavy mic is going on the boom, a leg will need to be positioned under it. Much better material quality than the imitations.

Q: 6. can boom be sparated from stand?

A: Yes, boom can be separated from stand without any problem.

Q: 7. Do I need an adaptor to attach a Shure MV7 microphone to this mic stand?

A: No. You just unscrew the included mic clip and screw on the MV7.

Q: 8. Will this work with PreSonus Revelator? If not, what other attachments are needed?

A: Yes, the Auray Telescoping Boom Arm Mic Stand with Table Clamp Mount can be used to support the PreSonus Revelator Dynamic USB Microphone.

Q: 9. Does the boom arm unscrew from the clamp?

A: Yes, the Auray Telescoping Boom Arm Mic Stand with Table Clamp Mount can be unscrewed from the stem that attaches to the clamp and then used with a standard microphone stand. The stem can also be removed from the clamp by loosening the tension screw on the top of the clamp.

Q: 10. Can this kit be hung upside down safely when clamped to ceiling rigging?

A: No, the Auray Telescoping Boom Arm Mic Stand with Table Clamp Mount is not intended to be mounted upside down. The tension screw that secures the arm in the clamp may not be capable of supporting the weight of a microphone and any accessories when it is mounted upside down.

We have two of these and maybe another 4 or 5 K&M mic stands. Love them all, worth the money. We hung these from the ceiling via threaded rod to support a couple of shotgun mics in our little video studio. We'd been using lav mics, but they're a pain, so we thought a couple of shotguns that could be permanently hung from the ceiling would be the thing to try. But we needed to be able to move the mics where we needed them, and that's where these booms came in. They work like a charm! Easy to balance, so that even at full extension, they hang level, and the threaded rods they hang from hang straight down. Just what we needed.

This all-steel boom arm feels just as solid as my K&M 211/1 booms but for a lower price. I popped it on a shaft from an older lower cost stand whose boom mechanism died from years of wear & tear and it's like having an all new boom stand for half the price. Why replace the entire thing when it's just the boom that needs replacing? I'm happy and will get more in the future. I recommend this product.

I needed a boom arm but not the stand to hold it, so this was perfect. It's substantial enough that I can trust it to hold the microphone, and it telescopes smoothly.
