Rosco Calibrated Color is a series of color effects lighting filters designed specifically to the spectral sensitivity of color film.

The series includes the primary colors Blue, Green and Red, along with the secondary colors Yellow, Magenta and Cyan followed by Pink and Lavender.

Each color is designed in four densities: 15, 30, 60 and 90, corresponding to the familiar 1/2, 1, 2 and 3 stop calibrations.

In color photography, three light-sensitive emulsion layers separately record the individual blue, green and red components of the spectrum.

CalColor filters adjust the transmission of these color components at the individual light source in a familiar and reliable manner.

As a result, the cinematographer can exercise selective and predictable control over the image's coloration as rendered by the film.

I usually use this for standard photography (indoor/outdoor/action shots), so there isn't much I'd rely on this type of film for. Only problem is that some of the shots turn out grainy.

This film is excellent for the price. Is it the finest of grain, no. But if we're looking for perfect grainless photographs you should be photographing digital by now in this day of age. I use this film, because I love the way it looks, its analog...its got a look that digital can't emulate. It's got the right mixture of grain, sharpness, contrast and saturation. Just enough to make your photographs pop with color, but not overwhelming, yet accurate enough for say portrait to landscape. It's just a good all-around film, and affordable too!

This is THE Kodak film for all situations. Low light. Fast action. General use, particularly in the point & shoot type camera.

I normally shoot Portra film, but will use Kodak Gold Max 400 for casual shooting. The 400 is a good all purpose speed. I find the colors are accurate and it scans well in my film scanner. It is not as saturated as the VC Portra film, but is a fine product for the price.

Nice color. I've used it in my trusty Canonet rangefinder. Colors are punchy, as you'd expect.

I always have a few rolls of this in the fridge. 400 speed is a very usable range for any of my cameras, P&S or professional bodies. This film can get a bit grainy in shadows and underexposed areas, when scanned.
