In order to use a microphone along with a light, my best advice would be to select a different microphone that allows a cable to run into the microphone input on the camera. A: Yes it should work on the d3300. The only settings that I can tell you about is to read how it will need to be setup from the D3300 manual. It's pretty much a plug and play type of microphone. I would suggest that if the camera has a 3.5mm earphone jack (in addition to the one that you will be plugging this into to record through). You should use an extra set of headphones to adjust your audio levels while recording and listen to the audio so it won't be too loud or soft.
