The Tiffen Filter Wheel 3 85 Color Conversion Filter helps to decrease the color temperature from 5500 to 3400K, allowing the use of tungsten-balanced film in daylight conditions. The warming effect of this filter requires a 0.6-stop increase in exposure for normal results.
This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Q: 1. Can this take a 16:9 HDMI Signal, and de-squeeze it to 4:3?
A: yes. That conversion is handled in the "scaling" sub-menu. See the manual (free download) for details and many more options.
Q: 2. We have all 4 SDI inputs occupied in our ATEM Production Studio 4K. Does this unit have problem converting HDMI coming from an matrix to HDMI input in the ATEM? Right now I can't get signal straight from the matrix even when setting the input in the matrix to the ATEM's configuration 576i@50 or 1080i@50 or 59.94I noticed all comments use this for converting to HD-SDI before the switcher; would there be problems going HDMI to HDMI scalled to an BM ATEM Prodution Studio 4K? Thank you!
A: I have not had a problem scaling anything from hdmi or hd-Sdi to either with these boxes. I have 20 of them. I have however had input issues with BM hardware and often have to try multiple versions of firmware for various option to work. Are you saying your matrix to decimator isnt showing up as an input in the MD-HX? Does it work going direct out to a monitor? Does the monitor give you the connection details?
Q: 3. Does this converter give clean results when converting from 1080p 60fps to 1080p 30fps? Any visible jittering or lag?
A: Its super clean
Q: 4. I want to output a 4k signal from my Lumix g85 into the Decimator. Will it downscale it to 1080p?
A: It wont downconvert 4K. It wont accept 4K signals as an input. This one maxes out at 1080p.
Q: 5. How clean will it deinterlace? I need to convert a 1080 60i hdmi out from a camera to 1080 30p, will the recorded signal look a clean 30p? meaning no interlace artifacts?
A: The quality of conversion of interlaced footage to progressive partly depends on the footage. However the MD-HX does have a very high quality deinterlacing algorithm comparable with products several times its price point and is relied upon for this daily by broadcasters and video professionals worldwide.
Q: 6. can you scale the x y coordinates? I have 1080i coming out and want to record to dvd
A: Hi,I am from Symbiosis, Decimators master distributor in the EMEA + US territories. The MD-HX will output a wide range of formats including standard definition PAL and NTSC which can be used for DVD. Thank you,John
Q: 7. Can this convert an HDMI feed from a computer to be accepted by a Atmos Ninja 2?
A: I'm not familiar with the Ninja device, I'd based on my considerable knowledge the MD-HX, the answer is certainly, yes. The MD-HX can cross-convert and scale basically any HDMI or SDI signal into any other HDMI or SDI signal. Additionally, with the new v1.3 firmware, the device can now GENLOCK it's output to an external SDI reference (not the traditional analog black or tri-level, its reference signal must be SDI, like system bars or a switcher AUX out). This new genlock feature greatly adds to the box's versatility. It's really an excellent piece of equipment and great problem solver. I'm a freelance video engineer, and I carry one in my kit.
Q: 8. I am trying to convert HD-SDI to SD-SDI and I could really use some help. Here are my settings:INPUT STATUS: S: HD 1080 29.97 / H: No Signal / D: SD 480i 59.94CONTROL: SDI Out SOURCE ScalerDUC SOURCE: SDI InDUC REF: SourceSDI OUT: SOURCE ScalerSCALING: Output Format: SD 480i 59.94I have a known good input signal; When I hook the output to a Panasonic deck that accepts SDI, I get no picture at all. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
A: Hi Elaine,It looks like you have it set up correctly. It should take any SDI source in and output 480i from the SDI out #2. There is another setting Control/Output 1 is Loop . If that is set to yes then the SDI output 1 is a loop of the SDI input (your HD source). I fit is set to no then both SDI 1 & 2 should have the scaled output. Try connecting a monitor to SDI output 2 and see if there is a picture.I hope this helps,Bob
Q: 9. I didn't see an answer for this. Will this model allow you to choose between various monitor layouts? ie; 2 sources side by side or 3 sources, or 2 sources top and bottom etc etc? Thanks
A: This is NOT a quad split device...its a single source in, two SDI out box
Q: 10. Trying to feed the Decimator MD-HX to the BlackMagic Teranix Mini SDI 12G DA and I get no signal on both Level A or B settings. Any ideas?
A: Assuming all lines are checked and the issue is the decimator, it could be a few settings. Sounds like others have answered, but Ill just add that for first time users (me early on - we have many of these now), connecting the usb to your computer and downloading the utility is a much easier way to see what the decimator is doing and which inputs are being sent to the scaler or outputs. After that, the on screen menus make much more sense. Hope that helps.
