Shallow Depth Of Field is a very powerful tool for telling a story and getting details across. Many movies use this feature yet cameras nowadays with small CCDs cannot produce this optical effect. The main purpose of this adapter is to bring shallow depth of field film look to low budget filmmakers with DV or HDV cameras.

This adapter involves the concept of using a 35mm SLR still camera lens to project an image onto a translucent piece of moving glass. This projected image is then literally focused on by the DV or HDV camera and recorded. All this takes place in a tube.

Letus35's concentration is on sharp focus, aberration, grains, barrel distortions, audible noise, vibrations and weight making their adapters an excellent optical accessory. They immediately update their adapters, if they find that changes are necessary.

Image is read upright for easier operation and this adapter only loses 1/2 stop of light sensitivity.

This kit comes with the 77mm adapter ring for camcorders with 77mm lens filter threads.

This particular adapter kit features connection and optimization parameters for the Son PMW-EX1 camcorder.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used in conjunction with a set of ext tubes to increase the amount of magnification when shooting macro?

A: Yes, its certainly possible to combine tubes with the lens adapter.

Q: 2. will this work on a nikon d300s please?

A: Yes will work but only in manual mode...

Q: 3. Will this work on Nikon D5300 camera ?

A: The FotodioX Adapter for Minolta MD-Mount Lens to Nikon F-Mount will work on the Nikon D5300.

Q: 4. Can the corrective glass element be easily removed for macro photography (and later replaced)?

A: The Vello Minolta MD Lens to Nikon F-Mount Camera Lens Adapter is not designed to allow removing the glass optic.

Q: 5. Is this adapter has aperture control dial in order to use it with auto focus Minolta lenses?

A: This adapter does not control the lens in any way. Aperture would be controlled on the lens. Minolta MD lenses were not Auto Focus lenses.

Q: 6. I've an old Minolta MC Rokkor-x 50mm lens. Can I use this addapter to use my lens in my Nikon D7200?

A: The lens mount, contrary to common belief, is actually called the SR mount, not the MC or MD mount. The terms MC and MD relate to different series' of Minolta lenses, with different features. All of the lenses, however, use the SR mount. Mine works fine and I have both MC and MD lenses. Just remember, the auto feature does not work and you must manual set the exposure.

Q: 7. I have 4 lenses that are from an old Minolta XE7 film camera. The first is a Nikkor -X 50mm f1.4 MC, an older Sgma 35-70mm f2.8 MD, a Vivitar 85-205mm f3.8 M/SR and a Vivitar 28mm f2.5 M/SR that I would like to use on my Nikon D7100. I realize it would be all manual. Would this adapter work for these lenses?

A: The FotodioX Adapter for Minolta MD lenses to Nikon F-mount bodies will allow any SR, MC, MD, or MD x-600 lens to work on your D7100. The only possible exception would be SR lenses made before 1961, as the aperture lever is shaped a bit differently. This may not necessarily rule out using the adapter, but it is something to consider, just in case you have any complications. Please keep in mind that there is a 1.4x conversion factor with this adapter (this allows for infinity focus capability to be retained). For example, a 35mm lens will look almost like 50mm (35mm x 1.4)You must use the lenses/adapter in aperture priority or manual mode.

Q: 8. With the 1.4 X correction, does this mean than a Minolta MD 85mm lens becomes a 119mm (85X1.4=119) on an FX body and a 178.5mm lens on a DX body (85X1.4=119X1.5=178.5)?

A: Yes, you are correct. Your 85mm lens will be multiplied by 1.4x on an FX sensor. On a DX sensor, it will be 85mm by 1.4x, multiplied by another 1.5x. This is due to the necessary adjustment for infinity focus compatibility.

Q: 9. Hello, I'm using a Lumix G7 with a lens turbo Nikon-M43 adapter. Do you think I could adapt an older Minolta MD W.Rokkor-X 24mm f/2.8 with the FotodioX Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Minolta MD Lens to Nikon F Mount ? That means I'd have the Turbo Lens + this adapter+ the Minolta MD W.Rokkor-X 24mm f/2.8? Any idea if I'm going to retain somewhat of a wide angle?

A: In theory you should be able to get the lens mounted on your camera. However, you won't have the wide angle from the 24mm. Due to the crop factor of your m4/3 body, the lens will have the field of view of a 48mm.

Q: 10. will this work on a d3500 camera?

A: Yes it will on manual focus and shutter speed and aperture

No complaints. I have not had any issues with focus. I absolutely love what I am able to produce with this lens. I have had it for almost three years now and it just gets better and better. I absolutely love this lens.

This is our favorite lens and we look forward to getting additional Sigma lenses. The feel of quality, quiet focus motor, and image all seem of better quality than the Sony prime lenses we have. We are amateurs, but we use this for portraiture, videos and also some live stream applications on our Sony a7. Sold on Sigma.

I shoot Nikon D850 and been Pro for decades, mostly weddings and portraits. I hav lots of great glass, all nikon, including 20mm-50mm and 85mm Nikkor, as well as 70-200mm VR Zoom. Was in need of a great Nikon 35mm lens. considered the Nikkor F/2 as well as 28mm F/2.8. Then picked up the Sigma 35mm F/1.4 Art. WOW, a wee bit heavy but amazing image quality and so sharp! Its truly a great lens. very sharp, great colors, and at $699 a bargain! HIGHLY RECCOMEND it to all who want really good build quality and stunning sharpness.

on a side NOTE, salesman gave me in the bag a CANON mount sigma lens NOT a Nikon even though he knew well I was shooting a Nikon, had to take 1 hour subway back to store to sort out issue. BH took care of it fortunately.

Love this lens. Edge to edge sharpness and the colors are vibrant! The Eye-AF is very responsive on my a7riii. Also quick at focusing in video mode, very little focus breathing if any.
Only downfall is that the lens is pretty heavy and makes my mirrorless setup feel like a full body DSLR.

Great for portraits and landscapes! Goes with me on day trips and a must in my wedding arsenal.

Has been hesitating between this and the sony 35 1.8 and decided to go with this one. Absolute good building quality and sharpness, beautiful bokeh, and so on. Weight will be an issue for travel shootings yet it will return you with fabulous results!

Using this on my canon 77d and LOVED IT! Have had the opportunity to use this in like 4 shoots already and absolutely love it. The autofocus is better than some of my canon lens and the sharp images are beautiful

I LOVE this lens. I went this route to avoid paying the price of the Canon EF 35. You won’t be disappointed, sharp images, great focusing, but HOLY MOLY is the autofocus LOUD! Do not recommend at all for any video. But as a photography lens, it’s worth it.
