Q: 1. I am currently using an older Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV to scan my B&W negatives. I use the Vue Scan software but the scans come out grainy and with poor contrast. I have to do a lot of tweaking in Photoshop or Lightroom but still don't get the look as if I work in the darkroom. I was wondering if this Epson V600 gives a much better quality scan than I have now or is there still a lot of tweaking after the scan to get good results?

A: Tough to answer this without seeing the images. It may be that the light source in the Dimage is going bad. This will add noise because the scans will be too dark and boosting the brightness will contribute noise. Consider a dedicated film scanner. The V600 will work but it won't give you the resolution you are used to with the Dimage.

Q: 2. Will this work with Mac Catalina 10.15?

A: Yes. If needed, you may visit Epson's website and visit the Support section for the Epson Perfection V600 Photo to download the drivers for the macOS 10.15.x for use with macOS Catalina.

Q: 3. For people who have used this, do you think this could work with a Nikon 85mm f/1.4 on a D850 since it's on the cusp of 24-70?

A: Yes, it will work.

Q: 4. Can it switch back and fourth between print sizes without having stop and switch out media sizes?

A: Yes! it's just your printing settings you need to adjust. Media kit has nothing to do with it. It will cut 2x6 or 4x6

Q: 5. can it scan glass mounted 35mm slides?

A: You can use glass mounted 35mm slides in the slide holder of this scanner.

Q: 6. For scanning 35mm slides does it crop any part of the image?

A: No it does not crop any part of the slide. It copies the entire slide. To crop you need to use any photo editing program you may have on your computer.

Q: 7. how many 35 mm slides are processed in a single pass?

A: It is supposed to do one but the unit does a very poor job of scanning slides.

Q: 8. Has anyone used this to scan 6x4.5 negatives? And if so, can you post a result?

A: The Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner can only be used to scan 35mm negatives and 120mm negatives.

Q: 9. Does this have a self feeder for photos? Basically can you put 20 or so photos in and hit scan? I'm looking to do a bunch at a time without waiting forever or doing them one by one.

A: The options are: a. 1 photo image(print 4x6 or 5x7 b. 4 35mm slide images c. 6 35mm film images on 1 film strip

Q: 10. Will this scanner scan 120 format negatives? What type of file does it output and is the output file editable in lightroom and photoshop? What other scanners would you recommend for 120 negatives? Thanks

A: The scanner will can 120 negative film (color or black & white) as well as transparencies it outputs the file in JPEG format and of course you may edit the file in Photoshop, Lightroom as well as other photo editors. The Braun scanner is the only 120 scanner I have used and I'm quite happy with it.
