The PocketWizard N10-ACC 3' Remote Camera Cable for Nikon 10-Pin Cameras connects to your Nikon camera's 10-pin electronic release socket to enable your MultiMAX, FlexTT5, PlusX or Plus III PocketWizard radio slave set to trigger the camera's shutter remotely. This pre-trigger cable is intended to keep the camera constantly "awake". The pre-trigger switch can be set on or off to save battery energy. Once set on the "awake" mode, the camera will trigger much faster but will also use up more battery power.

    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this control power output on any speed light or just Nikon speed lights that are commander capable?

A: The zone controller can only control the power of Nikon brand flashes (or Elinchrom and Paul Buff studio lights with an additional ST4 unit).

Q: 2. Does this allow you to gain additional fps while shooting with it?

A: No, just longer shooting time and in grip charging.

Q: 3. Will an Arca-Swiss style camera plate designed specifically for the Nikon MB-D14 fit the same way on this grip? That is, are the bottom contours of this grip exactly the same as the MB-D14?

A: No unfortunately. The grips are different enough in design that the plates/brackets designed for the MB-D14 would not fit onto this Vello grip properly.

Q: 4. can i use my existing Plus-X and Plus III in addition to the one Flex and mini I own?

A: The AC3 can work attach to a Flex TT5 or a mini tt1. Speedlights and other strobes attached to a Plus X or Plus iii can be run in groups but will not have the ability to change power from the camera.

Q: 5. Will this Controller attached to a MiniTT1 work if I have Pocket Wizard Plus III on Einstein lights and want to control them from the camera?

A: To control Einsteins you need the Pocket Wizard MC2, which plugs into the top of the Einstein. By control I presume you mean to control strobe output manually, or in A mode (on the AC3), to use the Nikon iTTL to produce correct exposure. Also, I'd not use the mini TTL..it does not have enough power to transmit reliably or at distance. I mount my AC3 on a FlexTTL - in my experience.

Q: 6. Is AC3 supposed to set shutter speed 1/60? I set auto ISO ans minimum shutter speed at 1/200 but it with AC3 the shutter speed is limited at 1/60. Is this normal? I am using Nikon D810, SB800 and SB600. Thank you.

A: Setting your camera at 1/60th should not be the limit. To make sure you're setting up your system correctly you need to be mounting the AC3 onto either a MiniTT1 or FlexTT5 then slide both parts onto the camera. Set up remote Speedlights on FlexTT5 radios normally. Power on the flash, then the FlexTT5. Set all Speedlights on remote FlexTT5 radios to normal i-TTL Mode. Do not use Manual or REMOTE / MASTER on your remote Speedlights. The AC3 will use i-TTL commands to control manual power levels when the AC3 Mode Switch is set to M (Manual). Use the FlexTT5 Zone Switch to assign Zone A, B, or C to the Speedlight. On the AC3, set the Mode Switches to M (Manual) or A (Auto) for the zones in use. Adjust flash output power with the Power Dials (+/-). The AC3 ZoneController enhances the ControlTL capabilities of your MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 radios by allowing you to control the flash output power manually from the cameras position or use i-TTL, it does not impose restrictions on sync speeds.

Q: 7. Will there be any provisions for the MB-N10 to accept AA batteries in the future?

A: Nikon has not announced any changes to the Nikon MB-N10 Multi-Battery Power Pack for Select Z-Series Cameras.

Q: 8. So, does the grip have to be removed in order to change the battery that is in the camera?

A: Yes the grip does need to be removed to take the battery out of the camera.

Q: 9. It holds two batteries but you give up the camera's battery spot by installing the MB-N10 so it actually ads only one more battery total, correct?

A: That is correct, the grip allows you to use 2 batteries, not 3.

Q: 10. Does the Kirk PZ-151 plate fit on this grip? This is not the L model, but designed for the D600/D610.

A: I think you should order thr Kirk PZ-152 which should fit with Battery Grip.

Allows me to take my Flex and Mini to the next level. When used with me Nikon SB-910's it works great! I only wish Pocket Wizard would make their products a little more heavy duty. While I've never broken a PW product, they all feel a bit on the flimsy side.

The AC3 Zone Controller is quite reliable and I have no problem using it to control my Speed light. A great addition to my other Pocket Wizard controllers!

This works exactly as advertised. Being able to control the power of your speedlights from the camera is nothing new is using an SU-800 or another light as a master. Being able to do so in bright sunlight or without any line of sight though, that's a different story. The AC3 Zone Controller allows you to adjust the levels of your flash and change from speedlight off, to TTL to Manual. It's brilliant and works every time. If you don't own an SU-800, this is an even better deal as it is 1/3 the price!

This product does what it advertises and does it well. Now I don't need to worry about line of sight (as I did with my SU800) and about shooting in broad daylight. The AC3 coupled with the mini tt1/ flex tt5 make for a complete remote solution. I have had no misfires so far - it simply delivers! And at $ it is a third the price of the SU800. Finally I love the fact that it does not need a battery to operate. Excellent product!
