Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you separate the vertical rod from the base tripod?

A: Yes, the boom can be separated from the base in a few different ways. This is a very versatile and configurable stand.

Q: 2. What are the thread widths?

A: The thread on the end of the K&M mic stand is 5/8"-27.

Q: 3. does this stand work with a shure sm7b?

A: Yes, It will work with any microphone that the mounting thread is 5/8" female. That said, you may want to consider adding something like item# ONMM01 for best positioning options, as typically the SM7b is used in conjunction with a Broadcast arm where the arm threads or coming down above the mic.

Q: 4. Can this stand work for an on-camera person who is standing while speaking?

A: This has a maximun height of just over 5 feet.

Q: 5. Do you need any additional parts to mount a rode mic?

A: This has a standard 5/8" thread that will accept any microphone clip that is designed for studio use. If you are asking about a microphine built for video or on camera use you may need an adapter.

Q: 6. Where is is it made?

A: This K&M product is manufactured in Germany.

Q: 7. Has anyone compare the QSC k8’s to Alto TS308 2000W TOO

A: Yes. These two products are far apart from each other. The QSC out-performs and has additional features, including DSP.

Q: 8. What is the collapsed size?

A: Just over 40 inches when fully collapsed.

Q: 9. Can it hold heavy large diaphragm mic securely? Thanks

A: Absolutely. This is the most stable tripod base mic stand there is. Its larger base makes a significant difference. If the heavy mic is going on the boom, a leg will need to be positioned under it. Much better material quality than the imitations.

Q: 10. what is the tripod leg length, and tripod maximum diameter?

A: Each of the tripod legs is approximately 14-inches long, with a total footprint of about 28-inches..

Simple and reliable. Went from a $30 stand to this and is most certainly worth the extra $40 if you can afford it, especially if you use any large-diaphragm mics.

We have been impressed with this stand when we use it with our MEVO camera. It is very slim yet quite stable and sturdy. It helps to make the camera much less obtrusive.

I bought two of these to go w/B&H booms, one of which I had owned for over 10 yrs. These are nicely weighted, stable stands and they fold easily for transport--I appreciate this as I have 2-3 gigs per week. I use one boom well-extended and position one tripod leg directly below the boom, for my violin (SM57). The other with shorter boom for vocals (SM58). These stand won't budge until you pick them up to move them. Boom arm does not droop from weight of mic. I cannot comment on long-term durablility as I've owned them less than a month, but I appreciate that K&M sells replacement moveable parts so I can repair if needed. Definitely worth the investment after wearing out the cheap flimsies I was using before.

I really like the stand. It folds to be very compact. It has some weight to it so you don't worry putting a handheld on it stretched out that it might fall over. The boom arm is a single piece so I think that is the only functional downside. But it's $30 cheaper than the other option from K&M. I appreciate the discount for what I feel is a very small sacrifice. I did order 3 of them and 1 of them seems to have been cross threaded from the factory where the main shaft and boom arm screw together. It still feels very sturdy and the lock ring seems to grip well so I'm not bothering with an RMA.

I use this stand in my home studio with a boom attachment. Im tired of the cheaper models that strip and crack at the knob points. This is a winner, highly reccommended!
