A: Yes, you can put a DSLR on this crane for it can easily handle the weight since a DSLR/lens combination averages 2-6lbs. You need to consider a reliable record on/off control. See if your DSLR allows remote on/off video record. You will also need a monitor and a mount for it near the rear of the crane so you can see what you are shooting. Make sure you have a sun shade for the monitor to reduce reflections interior or exterior.

This would suggest the LC 12F was already being shipped, that someone there (accidentally?) mixed stock at RRS. What else would explain this radical good-bad-good one year review cycle?

A: I guess you'd have to ask B&H. I bought one in August 2017 and returned it as it would not balance on a gimbal with the D-500. That one came with the LCF-11. I bought it again in May of this year with the LCF-12 and the balance issue was solved.However, it is still missing the 1/4-20 threaded socket on the collar itself (which other RRS collar replacements have). This means the foot must be mounted in order to use a sling strap like the BlackRapid.
