Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with a Nikon D500 and Tamron SP DI -90 mm 1:2.8 Macro 1:1?

A: Yes this extension tube set can work with the Nikon D500 and a Tamron 90mm Macro lens.

Q: 2. Does it work with Nikon d5500 ?

A: The short answer is yes. The long answer is they work perfectly on a d5100 so they should work perfectly on a newer model. I had some fitting issues when they were brand new, but after a few cycles putting them on and taking them off they sort of wore in. They are exceptional value for the money and work so good I own two sets. Good luck!

Q: 3. are these compatable with a nikon 5300?

A: Yes these are compatible with any F-Mount camera.

Q: 4. If I use this with my Sony 90mm Macro will I get greater magnification with it?

A: Yes Vello EXT-SFED2 Auto Focus Extension Tubes for Sony E-Mount Lenses is compatible with the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS Lens and it will increase the magnification. The new magnification will be 1.29x

Q: 5. will these extension tubes work with Nikon D810?

A: I use them on my Nikon D800E. They all have the same mount. I prefer using a Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Macro Lens. The extension tubes requires adding/removing them for changing the amount of macro enlargement. That is OK indoors but not preferred in the field.

Q: 6. Can I use it on my D810 with my 70-200 F 2.8 lens ?

A: No, thy are for the C-mount of the Nikon 1.

Q: 7. Will this work with the TC-14 or TC20 teleconverter from Olympus?

A: Yes, you can use this set of extension tubes with the Olympus teleconverters.

Q: 8. I know of Nikon F camera body mount but not Nikon F V2 mount. Please explain the difference, if any?

A: The V2 isn't referring to the F-mount, but the version of the extension tubes. The V2 (version 2) of the Nikon F-mount extension tubes seems to be a slightly newer design, and might potentially have slightly better electronics.

Q: 9. Will this work with a Nikon D610?

A: Yes, as the Nikon D610 DSLR Camera uses the Nikon F-mount lens mount, the Vello Auto Extension Tube Set for Nikon F would be compatible for use on the Nikon D610 DSLR Camera.

Q: 10. can these tubes be used with tele-photo lenses or does it have to a prime lens???

A: Yes... They work great. I use them with a Nikon 135mm f2 DC lens on a Nikon D800e for flowers. This lens has suburb bokeh but does not focus closely enough for flower portraits. Also the Nikon versions are manual only and do not supply exposure information to the camera.

Kit lenses have limitations, but with these extension tubes, it really expands the capabilities. I use them often. Maybe not as good as a macro lens, but it gets right in there.

I tried 3 other brands of RF extension tubes and they all went back because of poor fit or inability to lock in place. Only the Vello tubes fit correctly and firmly locked.

Always wanted to add macro photography to my adventures and this is a great way to try it out without spending the bucks for a dedicated macro lens. If I end up wanting to do it often then then maybe but for now these are working fine and take great photos while keeping auto focus if you choose to use it. Mainly use manual focus but find the auto focus to work well for quick takes.

I ordered these extension tubes as an alternative to obtaining the Canon RF 100 F2.8 macro lens. These are quality tubes with secure lens mounting. They work as extension tubes should and still allow automatic lens focusing and exposure measurement. I have yet to determine the best focal length lens for their use; however, my cursory evaluation demonstrated significant curvature of the image and resulted in my purchasing the macro lens anyway.

These macro extenders are well made, precise, tight, and very lightweight, in keeping with the lightweight construction of the Z50. Not quite as heavy or solid as the Kenko equivalents. Contact rings are chrome plated metal, bodies are plastic. They look like part of the lens and camera when mounted. Images are superior to those using front mounted optics. Autofocus and exposure are seamless. With a zoom you sometimes have to adjust focal length to get within focus range.

The extremely shallow field depth is useful for shooting skittish
subjects like birds through a closed window, so long as the window is clean enough the camera doesn't focus on the dirt instead of what you want to shoot.

The first photo is a generic definition test with the Z50 DX 50-250 f/4.5-6.3 VR kit lens at 50mm f/4.5 1/80s ISO1000 and 32mm extension. Definition is good at center but not so good at margins.

The second is a snapshot through a window with the same camera and lens at 250mm f/6.3 1/400s ISO5600 and 20mm extension (unfortunately with a table lamp light reflected by the window).

The third image is a crop of the second showing detail definition.

The fourth image is a simple crop of the second without further editing.
