The Tiffen 4.5" Round Digital Diffusion/FX 1 Filter is a softening and diffusion filter specifically meant to appear invisible, as if no filtration is being applied. Compared to other diffusion filters, this filter offers virtually no flare or loss of contrast for more subtle applications. It helps to lessen facial blemishes, wrinkles, and gently smooth textured backgrounds while maintaining sharp focus. The 1 density provides a small amount of softening.

This filter is constructed from Water White glass and is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would the Canon EF + dumb adapter be the same as the native MFT version?

A: Hello Nicholas, I have only used it on MFT cameras, so cannot answer from experience. But since it is manual focus and manual aperture selection I think it would function exactly the same. David.

Q: 2. Is this lens compatible with the 5D mark II? In order to compensate the crop sensor

A: The Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens is not compatible with the 5D II. The EF-S lenses are not compatible with full frame cameras, and cannot be mounted on a FF camera.

Q: 3. Is it possible to shoot handheld macro images with this lense? Or does it need to be on a tripod in order to get a clear image?

A: Because of the fixed 20mm focusing distance, it requires the use of a macro focusing rail that allows you to make tiny changes in the distance between the camera and the stationary subject (that is, you are moving the camera back and forth to focus). Due to this limitation, your subject either needs to be a flat object or, if three-dimensional like an insect, dead. You'll also need a strong light source and "focus-stacking" software, which combines multiple single-plane images into a final photograph that shows greater depth of field. Please see examples of focus-stacked images included in the reviews for this lens, and note just how small an area the lens actually covers. This lens is actually more in the realm of photomicrography than macro photography. If you want to try hand-held macro photography, Nikon makes an excellent 100mm f/2.8 VR macro lens that would better suit your needs.

Q: 4. How well does this lens perform for the Canon 90D and what image stabilizer adapter pieces would you recommend?

A: This lens works very well on the 90D. Regarding a stabilizer, you can get a motorized gimbal, like a Ronin or Zhiyun Crane or hand held rig or shoulder rig. Q: 5. Hi, I have an a7s full frame camera with an adapter for canon EF and EF-S lenses. What focal-length will I get on my full frame with the 10-18mm? Thanks

A: 10mm but most likely there will be vignetting, dark corners. Distortion will be extreme as you move to the edges of a full frame image too. This lens was made for the smaller C size imaging chips and never intended for full frame camera.

Q: 6. Will this lens work on the Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera w/ EF Mount? There are people who say yes but I'm not totally convinced.

A: Yes, this lens is compatible with the Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera w/ EF Mount.

Q: 7. Can this be used with the Panasonic HPX370?

A: Yes, that pairing is compatible.

Q: 8. Hi, will this work on a canon EOS 50D?

A: Yes, this will. :)

Q: 9. Is this lens compatible with the 70D?

A: Yes, this lens is compatible with the Canon EOS 70D body.

Q: 10. Can this lens be used on a Sony alpha6500 camera? Either with or without an adapter?

A: We're afraid not. There is no adapter that will allow a 1/3" B4 lens to work on an E-Mount camera.
