Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I heard bigger SD cards have slower start/boot times. what SD card does everyone use? how many gigs and brand? how long was the start up time?

A: Start-up time can vary from a few seconds to a minute or more. Stay with SanDisk cards that are no larger than the project demands. Stick with SDHC cards no larger than 32GB. 16GB or smaller work well for most projects.

Q: 2. What solar filter would go with this scope? I'd prefer a white light film instead of orange film.

A: The MrStarGuy Adjustable Objective White Light Solar Filter (86-117mm OD) would be the best option for the Celestron Travel Scope 80mm f/5 AZ Refractor Telescope. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/3JtByDC

Q: 3. Does this do auto-levels? Or is that only the H4nSP?

A: The unit can automatically raise low-level input signals and lower high-level input signals. See pages 94-95 in the owner's manual:a href= http://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/92798.pdf target= _blank http://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/92798.pdf/a

Q: 4. Can I use this with a rear converter + DSLR ?

A: That will only work with the Kowa 880/770 Spotting Scopes. It eliminates the T mount and the adapter for the scope. That one piece attaches one end to your camera and one end to the scope and off you go shooting the heavens.

Q: 5. I was referred by celestron technician using this telescope tube as a finderscope. The original finderscope goes with the 8'' reflective telescope tube is very shaky on its mount. Does anyone know if this 70mm telescope fit well on the 8'' tube?

A: I bought this telescope for my son in 2015. The 70mm telescope does fit well on the 8 tube. My son has been super happy with this telescope, hes been able to pack it up and take it camping with us and its extremely strudy. Definitely a good buy.

Q: 6. can the XYH-5 capsule be decoupled into a L/R mono, or does it always have to be in stereo?

A: I don't believe it can be decoupled, however if you have audio editing software you can separate the channels that way.

Q: 7. c70 mini scope connect to a digital camera?

A: It is easy to connect a usb webcam though, eg Logitec.

Q: 8. I see that you can record a line-in via the XY module (e.g. for lav mics), but can you record the XY at the same time as that line in? So, could I have a lav mic plugged into the line-in _and_ also record the XY audio to get ambient/location sound separately from the lav?

A: You can definitely combine the XY module with a lav mic, however, the 3.5mm input on the XY module is for a line level signal. Since you want to connect a mic and not a line level signal, I would recommend using an XLR adapter with your lav mic and connecting the mic to one of the XLR-1/4" combo jacks. If your lav mic requires plug-in power, you can use Rode's VXLR Plus 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (B&H # ROVXLRP) which will convert phantom power to plug-in power. If the lav mic uses a battery for power or does not require any power, use the Rode VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter (B&H # ROVXLR) which just converts the connector to XLR. The XLR input offers the best options for recording the XY mics and lav mic simultaneously.

Q: 9. What's the battery life with continuous use of alkaline batteries?

A: When phantom-powering two typical mics, I get a bit over one hour from brand-name NiCD or NiMH (the H5 takes four AAs). That drain rate is mostly due to phantom power's heavy draw. Fresh alkalines last a bit longer, maybe a hair over 90 minutes. The rare times I've used my H5 without feeding phantom power to a mic pair, the batteries last much longer: e.g., after 2-2.5 hours, the initially fresh batteries show around 2/3 full.TIP 1: If you shoot near wall outlets, you can connect the H5 via its mini-USB port to any small cheap USB charger by any USB cable you have laying around, to run off wall current forever. I do this for shooting plays. This way, I can leave the LCD setting to stay lit (i.e., no power saving feature to turn off the LCD backlight after x minutes), so I can easily see recording levels at all times.TIP 2: If you shoot away from any wall outlets, you can still power the H5 externally via the same mnii-USB port by using any external power pack (like folks use for cell phones and tablets on long plane trips). Just make sure the connection is secure. A little gaf tape is good insurance.

Q: 10. Can the 45 prism be changed?

A: NO, the 45 degree angled cannot be changed
