This 125mm Coarse Tiffen ND Filter is a solid ND filter with a filter factor of 3x that provides a 1.6-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.5 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the Red Komodo?

A: The DZOFilm Marlin 1.6x Expander for PL Lens to RF-Mount Camera doesn't really serve a purpose on the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF) since the camera is a Super 35mm sensor and the DZOFilm Marlin is designed for the use of Super35mm lenses on full frame sensors. If you want PL to RF mount adapter with a full frame look on the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF), consider the Metabones ARRI PL Lens to Canon RF-Mount T Cine Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x (EOS-R). Q: 2. Does anyone know that this Velvet 56mm for Sony E mount model longer than the model for Canon?

A: Yes, the construction of the Velvet 56 for DSLR and Mirrorless cameras is different so the Velvet 56 for Mirrorless cameras (including the Sony E-mount) will be taller and it will come with a removable lens hood.

Q: 3. will this work on a canon rebel eos t5 1200d ?

A: This is a RF lens, so it would not work on a Canon Rebel camera.

Q: 4. For the Fuji X-T3 I was wondering do I need to purchase a special mount to attach this lens to my camera?

A: No special mount needed if you purchase this lens in your camera's native mount. You will however need to set your camera up to "shoot without a lens" in the menu with mirrorless cameras.

Q: 5. Can I use this on my Sony a7? Will I have autofocus?

A: The Lensbaby Velvet is manual focus only.

Q: 6. I shoot a Nikon F2AS, the last fully mechanical F series film camera Nikon made. Since this is a manual lens with an F mount, would it work on this camera? (The camera does have a built-in light meter which obviously would not couple with this lens, but I seldom use that anyway and it is not a consideration for me.)

A: As the Lensbaby Velvet 56mm f/1.6 Lens for Nikon F is a fully manual lens and has a built-in aperture ring, it would be compatible for use with the Nikon F2AS 35mm film SLR camera.

Q: 7. What the best lens for photograph coins

A: Any 1:1 macro lens would be good for photographing coins like the Canon 60mm macro or the 100mm macro.

Q: 8. I understand this lens is totally manual. How does one obtain aperture settings?

A: Twist the aperture ring on the lens itself to change the aperture.

Q: 9. Will this lense fit a Canon EOS Rebel SL1?

A: Yes, the Velvet for Canon will fit your Rebel. Note that it is a manual focus lens and the aperture is set on the lens itself. This is a specialty lens that has the feel and quality of an old Vivitar. Beautiful bokeh at wide apertures. Sharp in the middle.

Q: 10. Does this lens mount directly to a Nikon Z camera or is it using an adapter? -Thank you

A: The Lensbaby Velvet 56mm f/1.6 Lens for Nikon Z, will fit directly on the Nikon Z camera without any adapter.
