A: You can remove these drives and put them in another system that accepts 3.5" SATA drives. Please note that by doing so you may also be erasing whatever data that's already stored on the drives.

A: The drives are replaced by WD within the Limited 3-Year Warranty. Otherwise, you can use any RAID compatible drive that is 5400 RPM.

A: No, the encryption on this device will not prevent the ability of being backed up to another drive.

Q: 10. Since it looks like the automatic data encryption is proprietary can it be turned off?

A: If you don't want to use the Encryption feature in WD Security Software with this HDD, you don't have to.
