Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the actual weight of this prompter? The specs say 7 pounds, but the package is 43 pounds, I can’t imagine the styrofoam weighs that much or this prompter really weighs so little.

A: The prompter (24") itself weighs about 7.7 lbs.

Q: 2. Can this model work with an iPad Pro and utilize it's larger size?

Q: 3. Can it be integrated with inews the avid? Thank you

A: No, the Prompter People TeleScroll Teleprompter Software does not support Avid iNews. Avid says that the following prompter packages are supported. Autoscript WinPlus BDL Unicode version 6.8.7.3 and AutoCue WinCue version 1.30 (build 674 or higher).

Q: 4. If the imported document has an image, will it still be in tact on the teleprompter once imported? If not, is there a way to display an image on the teleprompter as well as scrolling text?

A: Sorry, the software does not support that. On their monitor based prompters, any image or slide can be readable in the glass because of the reversing capability of the monitor.

A: The Prompter People Flex 17 Three Teleprompter Kit offers VGA, HDMI, and composite inputs.

Q: 10. Can I rig this prompter on a hard body camera?

A: We use the 24 version with various cameras - Panasonic full size eng cameras to 5Ds, it's all about balancing the camera with the hardware on the tripod. The prompter hardware has a mounting bracket with adjustments for horizontal and vertical adjustments of your camera. I think for a large hard studio camera system you might just want to double check on the weight capacity with Prompter People. They have been very prompt (no pun intended) on any questions asked.

This is a great prompter for pro-sumer studio operations. It fits well with our Sony EX3 and is a snap to set up and break down. It seems like this would be ideal for many different sized camera because of the adjustable platforms for both the camera and the monitor. May be a little bulky for field production.

I use it with the Canon Xa10 and GH2 Panasonic. Good glass quality, and very sturdy The 17 Screen size is excellent for tapings when the prompter if a bit far from Host, easy to set-up and prompting software is getting the job done. Wished for an external usb or bluetooth controller to control speed scroll direction size and edit. Great product.

I've used this model quite a bit over the past few years and it never fails me. It's well made and designed in a non nonsense way, and breaks down well for travel.

This prompter will be used to assist in producing safety videos and programs. The screen size is easy to see at a distance and is easy to set up and use. The prompter is a little on the heavy side so plan on purchasing a professional grade and size tripod. Enough to support the weight of the prompter, camera and any accessories you plan to hang off the side of it. If you are going to use this in the field be sure to purchase a good foam filled case to transport it. Love it!

The unit arrived and we had it ready for the first shoot 30 minutes out of the box. The overall construction is better than i had expected and we're pleased. It is a substantial unit and mounts our Sony HVR-V1U pefectly, but requires a heavier Sachtler Video 14 or similar tripod - don't try on light Bogen with a 501 head.

I used an older 17 prompter from Prompter People back in the day, and while it worked well, I had some complaints, largely it being difficult to transport, bulky, and awkward to work with various cameras. The Flex-D-17 is great. It's simple, breaks down into two parts with just loosening some thumbscrews, and the rail system for mounting plates for the camera and tripod makes life a LOT easier than the old nuts-and-bolts method they used to use. I just did a shoot with an FS-100 using Sony Primes. We'd switch out lenses every half hour or so, and it was a simple process: undo the thumb screws, pop the glass and shroud off, put on the lens, reattach the shroud and glass, and it was done. Took about 1 minute for the entire process.
