Q: 2. What write-speed does it need in a Compactflash card for top quality recording? Is there a significant difference between a card with a write speed of 120 MB/s and one with 160 MB/s? Also, does this camera work with any size of memory card -- 32MB/64 MB/128MB or is there a particular size it requires? Thank you very much.

A: I use a 160 MB Write speed and 32 GB storage on my XF100 and it works perfectly. This is a great camera, give it the faster speed so it can perform to its fullest.

Q: 3. does a mic go in the top there?

A: Yes, its for a boom mic, but the camera has a mic too.

Q: 4. Can you send different video to the the different Sdi outputs or do they have to be the exact same? Like with vMix output 1 and 2.

A: They are either the same or you can use them together for alpha and fill outputs.

Q: 7. Will a reference video take the place of a TBC when capturing from nonprofessional composite decks?

A: Reference video inputs should only be used for timing purposes. They don't affect recording on the Blackmagic Design UltraStudio HD Mini (BH #BLUSHDMINI) and shouldn't be used as a replacement for a time base corrector.

Q: 8. What is the base sensitivity(ISO) of the sensor at 0dB?

A: I am sorry but camcorders like the Canon XF100 do not have an ISO setting, which is why information as to its base ISO is not published.

Q: 9. Does this support analog S-Video input? What is the recommended configuration to use this to capture from an S-Video source?

A: The UltraStudio HD Mini doesn't support S-Video input. To get your S-Video in you can use a Mini Converter Analog to SDI to convert your analog S-Video signal to SDI, and then feed the SDI output of that into the UltraStudio. Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Analog to SDI BH #BLASDIMC

Q: 10. Can i use this device for capture video from camera to Adobe Premiere?

A: The short answer is yes. If your camera has SDI out, no problem. If your camera uses HDMI out, you will need to get a HDMI to SDI converter. I've been doing it often using a HDMI converter. If you have an analog out only you will also be able to use this. The analog inputs are BNC and you can get inexpensive RCA to BNC adapters. The input to your computer to record using Premiere or the BMD software is via Thunderbolt 3.
