Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the slider leg move enough to straddle a flight of one or two steps?

A: The leg is about 19 inches long. So, if the two steps are not any deeper then about 8 inches each it should work.

Q: 2. Is it possible to get just the 20" center pole for the locking bases? I have extra bases and want short options.

A: Impact doesn't sell single poles by it self at the moment, but you can get one of these poles https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1069641-REG/kupo_ks704912_20_c_stand_double.html or https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/33059-REG/Matthews_339761_Riser_Section_20.html

Q: 3. How wide is the base when folded? If I'm doing my math right, I would assume just under 20 but I would love to hear from someone who has one or can measure.

A: My mesurment is from the longest leg to the opposing edge of the center post is about 21''.

Q: 4. Will this stand support the Aputure 120D II?

A: Yes

Q: 5. What do I need to attach a monolight to the grip head? Some sort of pin?

A: If you are trying to attach the monolight to the griphead at the end of the extension arm yes you need a pin. I just use a 5/8 x6 bolt from the hardware store. The extension are itself is 5/8 I believe so the monolight can be directly mounted to that end. Remember this is not a boom arm and you will need sandbags or other weight to help balance the weight you are hanging off the extension arm.

Q: 6. Do I need to purchase the boom arm if I'm putting a 5'-7' modifier above my subject in a studio setting?

A: This arm is not long enough to do overhead that's why you need a Boom Arm

Q: 7. Doesn't work on backdrop cross bar?

A: The stud on this Impact C-stand is 5/8", which can fit any cross bar with a 5/8" receiver on the end.

Q: 8. Does the center column come out if needed to put on castors?

A: The base is fixed to the column on this particular stand. A stand which will allow the column to be removed for use with a caster base is the Impact Turtle Base C-Stand Kit - 10.75' (Chrome) B&H # IMLSCT40MK. As for the base, the Manfrotto 299BBASE Wheeled Light Stand Base with Universal Head B&H # MA299BBASE is suitable.

Q: 9. Where are these stands manufactured? Thanks!

A: As per our records, the Impact C-Stand with Sliding Leg Kit is manufactured in China. This information is subject to change at any time.

Q: 10. How many grip knuckles are included?

A: Just the one (as pictured.) There is also a knuckle fixed to an arm but only one that can be separated.

I've been looking around the market for a boom solution that is lightweight and safe (Especially for booming lights such as the Aputure 300d and 120d). Finally came across this offering which I bought and used on a few shoots recently. Very happy with it and I would highly recommend it for folks who need to boom their cameras or lights overhead. This is the product you need.

I bought this mini boom to use with my Avenger C Stand and it works great. When fully extended I do use a sandbag to balance the load but this is to be expected when using a boom arm.

Gets the job of hanging a light where I need it. Very sturdy. Matches well with a sturdy stand. Don't try to hang this on some flimsy: It's a weight monster in it's own right. But that's what gets the job done.
