Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What are the dimensions in mm LxW?

A: The known dimension is the length: 2.100" / 53.3400 mm.

Q: 2. Has anyone used this lens on a crop sensor like the 80D for video and if so how did you like the results?

A: Hi, I have bought this lens originally for my 7D, and it works great as a walk around lens. Due to the cropped sensor, it behaves more like a 24-70mm on a full-frame. For video, I have shot several travel videos and product videos with the lens. Picture quality and color is top-notch. The zoom is smooth. In my opinion, having a cropped sensor on this lens is better for video, as it crops out the edges where lines are distorted. Hope this helps.

Q: 3. Does it come with a lens hood?

A: Yes, the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM Lens comes with the lens hood.

Q: 4. i have cankn 5d mark iv. knowing this is a older lens, how will the quality be.

A: The 17-40mm lens is very good image quality and will work quite well on the 5DIV.

Q: 5. I have a canon 6D with the kit lens 24-105mm F/4L lens. Is this EF17-40 F/4L make a lot of difference in image quality as well as wide angle coverage and depth of field for just the 7MM difference. I do a lot of travel and landscape photos.

A: Aside from the difference in focal lengths, the 17-40mm f/4L will give you a closer minimum focusing distance than the 24-105mm will. However, the 24-105mm features image stabilization, whereas the 17-40mm does not. Both of these lenses are great choices for landscape and travel photography, as they both feature wide angle and standard focal lengths, as well as a constant f/4 aperture. The 24-105mm may give you more versatility if you want a lens that has more range on the telephoto end, however, if you are shooting primarily wider shots, the 17-40mm is excellent.

Q: 6. Is this lens plate (Kirk KLP210) compatible with RRS Lever-style clamps?

A: I selected the screw type RRS clamp, but I think the lever clamp would work as well. The L-plate sits below the camera; the clamp bites the L-plate so the clamp and the screw or lever are on the same plane as the L plate, below the camera, without obstructing any functions. I like the how the L-Plate extends the entire length of camera body so that when I set camera down it is stable. Battery is still accessible. My Black Rapid (or my tripod) screw right into the L-Plate. I think it's easier though to tighten the screw vs the lever which I suspect requires a hand on the tripod as the lever is forced to closed position? I like the screw clamp.

Q: 7. Is this lens parfocal?

A: Yes, the 17-40 is considered a Parfocal lens. And note that Parfocal zooms in the Canon EF lens line-up are essentially limited to the fixed-aperture L-series category and front-focusing zoom lenses.

Q: 8. Can I use it on my 6d?

A: Yes

Q: 9. DOES the lens come with a front lens cap?

A: The Tokina atx-i 17-35mm f/4 FF Lens for Nikon F includes front and rear lens caps.

Q: 10. is it made in JAPAN ?

A: According to the box mine came in, it was made in Taiwan.
