Both of these lenses are great choices for landscape and travel photography, as they both feature wide angle and standard focal lengths, as well as a constant f/4 aperture. The 24-105mm may give you more versatility if you want a lens that has more range on the telephoto end, however, if you are shooting primarily wider shots, the 17-40mm is excellent.
