This 1-stop, 105mm Tiffen Coarse Water White Glass Full Spectrum IRND Filter is a combination of both an infrared control filter and a 1.2 neutral density filter. An IRND is ideal for HD cameras, which have greater low-light sensitivity and, subsequently, an increased susceptibility to infrared contamination. When using a standard neutral density filter to counter the increased light sensitivity afforded by the HD sensor, the effects of infrared pollution become more apparent. This filter combines a neutral density filter with a comparable infrared control filter to eliminate the spill of infrared light reaching the sensor while still maintaining the extra exposure benefits of a neutral density filter.

This filter is constructed from Water White glass and is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and mounting to precision metal rings.

Infrared control filter helps to block infrared pollution from affecting the color fidelity of imagery; this enables a wider color gamut and truer colors, especially noticeable in the darker regions of the image.

1.2 neutral density filter requires a 4-stop increase in exposure for normal results.

Water White optical glass for excellent clarity.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Any comparison between Nikon 105mm F/1.4 vs Nikon 85mm f/18G -- which one is better as a portrait lens?

A: Both the AF-S 85mm f/1.8G and this AF-S 105mm f/1.4E ED are very sharp. With the 105mm, you would get the slightly longer focal length and 2/3 of a stop brighter maximum aperture. While those two factors can be helpful, this lens would have the electromagnetic diaphragm which is most compatible with the newer Nikon bodies.

Q: 2. Is this a good lens for my 60D?

A: This is a great lens. Very versatile and great optics. I only use 2 lenses. This one and a Canon 2.8 70-200.

Q: 3. What is this lens used for

A: This lens is for general photography ranging from scenic's to portraits and everything in between.

Q: 4. Which is better the canon 24-105 or the sigma 24-105 ?

A: I have both a Canon and Sigma lens for my Canon EOS 70D. From my point of view the Canon lens gives better quality images.

Q: 5. Can I use this lens with a Canon 500D?? if not what would you recommend?? thanks for the advice.

A: Shopper that owns a Canon 500 D. I have never used the 500 D but think that this sturdy lens would work fine with your Canon camera l love this lens i bought it to replace a similar lens that I had worn out. Best regards, Sandra Lakeman

Q: 6. is this lens compatible with all canon dslr cameras?

A: Yes. It is an EF lens.

Q: 7. How does the EF 24-105 compare with the EF-S 18-200 as to sharpness and image quality?

A: The Canon 24-105mm f/4L EF IS USM lens would be slightly sharper compared to the Canon 18-200mm f-3.5-5.6 IS lens. However, it would have much better performance in regards to optical distortion and vignetting performance, and is slightly better in regards to chromatic aberration performance. As such, the Canon 24-105mm f/4L EF IS USM lens would have overall better optical quality and performance compared to the Canon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 EF IS lens.

Q: 8. I have this lens, but it's about 10-12 years old. I bought it with an old 5D Mark I.Mine has the exact same specs.IS and USM, etc.Has Canon updated this lens recently? New design and performance?

A: This lens is still being produced based on the same original design from when it was released about 10 years ago. No new versions have been released as of this point.

Q: 9. Is the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens compatible with the Canon Extension Tubes EF 12 II and EF 25 II?

A: Yes.

Q: 10. Does this lens work with APSC RF cameras?

A: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Lens will work with a APS-C RF camera but make sure to multiply the focal length with 1.6x. So on a APS-C camera this will be a 39-168 mm (35 mm equivalent) lens.
