The Cavision SWJ821 Slide-On Windcover offers optimum wind protection without the need for a basket or blimp-type windshield and wind-muff. Artificial rabbit fur significantly diffuses high-wind noise and an inner foam lining works as a windscreen for an extra layer of protection against wind noise. The slide-on design features an 0.82" (21mm) inner diameter and is intended for microphones measuring 7" (177.8mm) in length. The small and lightweight windcover is an excellent solution for field recording with shotgun microphones, stereo microphones, etc.

Q: 1. Can you adapt this to work with a Canon EOS DSLR? There dont seem to be good options for Canon
A: No adapter is required as this fits in front of the lens and connects to the lens threads. I use this on a Canon Macro lens without any adaptor.
Q: 2. Has anyone done a direct comparison of results using an ES-1 with scanning on a Nikon Coolscan 4000?
A: I love it with my D7200. Have not used a coolscan V but have scanned with a conventional scanner. I used a light on light stand behind it and it went incredibly fast and the resolution with a D7200 was phenomenal.
Q: 3. I would like to use the ES-1 on a Nikon D800. What would be the best micro lens to use? Would I need adaptors also?
A: Officially the 55mm macro and extension tube were the correct items to use with this adapter, but the 60mm macro will also work without a tube.
Q: 4. Is the rail suitable for a 70-300
A: Unfortunately no but this Sunwayfoto DMP-200R Multi-Purpose Rail Nodal Slide will work with most 70-300mm lenses: https://bhpho.to/483I1A7
Q: 5. Will this work with Sony FE 2.8/50 macro lens?
A: It is possible to use a Sony FE 50mm f/2.8 Macro Lens with the Nikon ES-1. However, you may need to use extension tubes to allow for the proper focus.
Q: 6. Will this work with Nikon D7100, Nikkor 18-140mm lens, extension tube, and reverse ring adaptor? Same for 28mm f/2.8 AIs lens?
A: With enough extension between the camera and lens, or a lens reversed, I understand almost any lens can function as a macro lens. The issue one will have with this adapter and at least the longer lens you note, is that the tube goes between the lens and the slide for the right focus. This tube has to be much longer for a lens longer than 55 or 60 mm, and longer still when the 1.5 crop of the DX format is considered. I am using the set-up described by Wayne Fulton (google scantips) and bought a separate extension tube on Amazon, shipped from HK (to add more distance between lens and slide). I believe also macro lenses in general are recommended for this sort of thing because at short focus distances they are sharp across an entire flat field. If I were to do it again with my DX camera and many slides to scan, I think I would buy this slide copier plus Nikon's 40 mm DX macro lens. See the excellent description by Wayne Fulton, google scantips.
Q: 7. I purchased the ES-1 and the 27mm PK-13 Extension and have them set up on a D90 with a Nikor 55mm macro lens and a UV filter. With the ES-1 fully extended 70mm and the lens focused at a lens length of 70mm (for a total slide-to-image distance of 167mm), I get a nicely focused full frame shot of my slide. The only problem is that the bottom of the image is slightly cropped. It seems with experimentation that I would have to move the slide about another 150mm off the lens and then refocus a bit to remedy this problem. But everything I read indicates that this set up should work. Is some cropping inevitable. Do I need a longer tube?
A: Since the D90 has a DX sensor, you need less magnification to copy a slide than 1:1. With a 55 mm Micro-Nikkor, you will need a PK-13 extension tube between the camera and lens to achieve 1:1.5 magnification, and a K extension between the lens and the ES-1. K tubes are only available used, and are 52 mm M to F adapters in several lengths.
Q: 8. How can I use the ES-1 with a Nikon 105mm macro lens?
A: I use a 105mm lens. I fashioned an extension tube to link the ES-1 to the lens at the correct focal distance by rolling a simple sheet of cardboard into a tube of about 5 inches length, taping it closed, and taping the ES-1 to one end. I then then mounted the other end of the assembly to the lens (using tape). The rest is simple: I put a slide in the ES-1, pointed it at a natural light source (outside window), and took a picture.
Q: 9. Finally got my ES-1 to use with my 55micro 3.5 and M2 extension (27.5mm same as a PK 13) , but it looks like I need maybe another 5 or 6 mm to get the slide in focus. I thought the ES-1 was made to work with this combination. Any one have any ideas why it's not working?
A: This adapter is met to be used with 55mm f/2.8 try staking the extension tube. Nikon 8mm AI Extension Tube PK-11A
Q: 10. Does ES-1 work with Nikon D3300 and its kit 18-55 mm lens?
A: No unfortunately, Nikon ES-1 Slide Copying Adapter is only compatible Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor lens and the Nikon PK-13 extension tube.
