Q: 1. I've read reviews that say there's no ground, which means there could be a problem with static electricity in the cabinet. Is there a solution for this?

A: While we have not received complaints from customers regarding issues with static electricity with these units, if you are looking for a cabinet for use with items sensitive to static electricity such as motherboards, computer chips and components, etc., I would recommend purchasing a cabinet designed for this specific usage. If you are using the cabinet to store camera equipment and accessories, there should not be an issue, but you may view a few of the other replies from posters who have listed common techniques often recommended as suitable for controlling issues with static.

Q: 2. I have two sony mirrorless, 1 bmd p4k, 1 sony fs700, about 67aspc and mft lenses, 8 batteries and chargers. Could it fit in this model?

A: Without actually getting the equipment and putting it in the cabinet there is not a way to be positive if it will fit all of your specific equipment. I do feel it is too much equipment for it. Best is to on the floor tape out the interior size of 11.3 x 11.4 rectangle. And then take equipment and place it in the taped area and see what fits. There are two shelves so you have three landings. And make note of the height of your equipment as the total interior height of the cabinet is 20.9".

Q: 3. Do you put batteries in this? I have a v mount battery for my bmpcc. Is it safe to put in the cabinet?

A: Yes it is safe for storing batteries too.

Q: 4. How many bodies cameras and lens does it fit?

A: Impossible to answer since it depends on the size of your camera. You could fit dozens of Leica M-cameras or only 1 large format camera. I have a D810 w/portrait grip and 8 large lenses in mine.

Q: 5. I set the humidity at 44%, but it always shows between 43-35%. IS this right? I am not sure what the humidity is in my room, however, even if it's between 32-35%, does this storage increase humidity, or it can only lower humidity levels?

A: The dry cabinet cannot add humidity, it can only remove it. So if the relative humidity of the room is less than 44%, the cabinet will be less than 44% too.

Q: 6. Is there a way to calibrate the humidity and/or temperature settings on the display? I have used a digital thermometer humidity gauge and an alcohol thermometer to check both: the humidity setting appears to be -5% off (35% instead of 40%, the recommended setting for lenses) and the temp is +3 F off. Too much of a +/- error for my taste.

A: I did not see any calibration instructions in the manual. The temperature in my house is 76 degrees on my thermostat and a digital thermometer. The display on my cabinet says 78 degrees and I have the AC vent closed to that room so I would expect a 2 degree difference. I have my cabinet set at 35% humidity. I live in Minnesota so it's not like our weather is wet like in Florida or dry as in Arizona. However, over the last week we had dewpoints in the high 70's and temps in the 94+ range so it's been tropical to say the least. I use my cabinet for humidity control and for storage as a clean room and only take out the gear I need rather than keeping everything in my bag. If you are sure your testing devices are accurate you can simply make the conversion and set the cabinet accordingly. The price is right for this cabinet.

A: You may store any type of material you wish to protect from humidity which is physically able to fit inside the Ruggard Electronic Dry Cabinet (120L). If the archival box of prints is sized appropriately to fit inside the Electronic Dry Cabinet, it would allow you to set the humidity between 35% to 60% to further protect your prints.

Q: 9. Iwould like to use it for spice storage. is there any way to install slide-out spice racks?

A: No. The following unit offers fixed racks and do not slide out.

Q: 10. I live in a city where humidity is around 75%. I have set the dehumidifier to 35% but it never gets to that percentage. It always stops around 39% and it can take up to 4/5 hours to get from 45 to 39%. And sometimes the humidity percentage goes up on its own. Is that normal?

A: Yes, it is normal for the Ruggard EDC-50L Electronic Dry Cabinet (50L) and pretty much all Dry Cabinets to take that long to lower the humidity it. And with the humidity outside at around 75% that is normal to not to get as low you as that and 39% is actually very good for one of these.
