Giving you access to personal virtual surround-sound, the RS 175 Digital Wireless Headphone System from Sennheiser consists of a pair of HDR 175 headphones, and a TR 175 transmitter. The TR 175 features an analog 1/8" stereo input along with a digital optical input for connectivity to a variety of audio and home entertainment systems, and functions both as a transmitter and charging station for the headphones. You can connect up to 2 headphones to the TR 175, by using an additional set of HDR headphones (not included). The HDR 175 headphones have a closed, circumaural design, and have dynamic bass boost and virtual surround sound modes, allowing you to customize playback. Analog and optical audio cables are included, along with 2 AAA rechargeable batteries.

A: I am not seeing much reviews on the differences in Sound Quality. They should be very similar. The one main difference between the 2 will be the connectivity. The RS175 has a Base that has Analog and Digital Optical Audio Input to which it transmits the audio to the packaged headphones over Radio Frequency (RF). A System like this is mainly used with a TV to transmit the audio. The HD450BT connects with Bluetooth which is meant to connect with a portable device like a Smartphone or Tablet.

We bought an older version of this model for my father in-law how has a had time hearing like 3 xmas ago. We loved it so much we bought a pair for ourselves. Having younger kids we were finding that it was tough to watch some Netflix shows and Movies later at night without waking the kids up. Now we can watch tv late at night again and catch up and enjoy our fav shows/movies. The only issues we had was the digital audio jack would not always work depending on what streaming service we were watching. It could of had something to do with our TV not sure and didn't really matter because I just hooked it up through the RCA and it worked fine with everything and still sounded really, really, good. 5

Rechargeable batteries last a long time. doesn't disturb the entire house. Can even walk out of the room where the TV is and hear clearly what is going on. 5

I had the previous version of RS 175's for many years and enjoyed them immensely. When they stopped working, I had no hesitation going with the same set. I use these headphones all the time when solo binging of TV and movies. My family hates my THX Surround sound system cranked up to cinema levels, which is how I like it. Now I get sound levels I like at any time of day or night without disturbing anyone else. I find myself using them even when alone in the house, the sound is that good. My hearing isn't as good as it used to be, so even watching news programs allows my to dial it up to hear better. These seem to have even more bass than the previous version, which is great. There is even a simulated surround sound which I like for movies. These checked off all the boxes for me: Sound quality, clear signal, full range sound with bass, ease of use, good looking, comfortable for long hours, and reasonably priced. And B&H is the best online retailer in the world. I absolutely love these wireless headphones. 5

The RS 175 is extremely easy to use and sounds great. I hooked it up with my analog TV headphone out jack, and you can play the headphones by themselves, or at the same time as the optical digital TV out plays through the audio video amplifier into my corded speakers. That way if noisy people enter our living room I can just slip on the headphones and not have to ask them to be quiet or to leave, and I don't have to jack up the sound coming out of the speakers. Also, you just turn them on and they are automatically connected, you don't have to take any additional steps or try to debug any issues. The audio quality is very good and the headset is comfortable. 5

These headphones are perfect when watching TV but others are not watching, and prefer to not hear the TV's audio. They were fairly easy to hookup after you find the right TV port connection. There's a switch on the charging stand that needs to be set for digital or analog. These provide wonderful sound. 5
