Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this lens perform for astrophotography?

A: This is one of the reasons I bought the lens. I just got it last week, but shots I've seen with it are tack sharp and you can run lower ISO on Milky Way.

Q: 2. Can both aperture and focus be set manually without any camera or on a dumb camera?

A: The focus on the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF can be operated manually even when not attached to a camera but the aperture can only be controlled through through a compatible camera.

Q: 3. Do you have the metal lens cap in stock?

A: No. We only offer the plastic lens cap at tis time and it is a special order item. It is shown here.

Q: 4. Has anyone experienced focus issues with this lens on Sony cameras or dust in the lens? I'm thinking about purchasing this lens. Thank you

A: We are not aware of any issues regarding focusing or dust with the Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art Lens for Sony E. This is a very popular lens that will come with a 30-day return policy from B&H as well as a Limited Warranty for manufacturer defects with Sigma USA.

Q: 5. I'm struggling to find a 2.0 or faster, truly wide-angle lens for night photography that also has full sensor coverage for my Sony a7RII. This Sigma lens seems to meet all my needs when paired with the MC-11 adapter, and so I ask... Has anyone tried this lens via the MC-11 adapter on a Sony a7RII? Did you have any problems with either auto or manual focusing?

A: This lens will be fully compatible on the Sony A7R II with the Sigma MC-11 adapter.

Q: 6. Is this lens compatible with a Nikon D3200?

A: Yes, this lens is compatible with the Nikon D3200.

Q: 7. Will this lens work with the Nikon D7100?

A: Yes. It will give excellent results and act as a short telephoto lens. (50mm on a DX sensor has the same field of view as a 75 mm lens on a full frame sensor. Optically it will be superb, and could be an excellent portrait lens.

Q: 8. Will this lens have weather sealing?

A: At this time we cannot confirm what it will be. However, we presume it will be the same specification as the previous versions for Canon and Nikon and therefore the lens will not be weather sealed.

Q: 9. I am looking for a wide angle to use primarily for night (star, trails and Milky Way) photography. Has anyone tried this lens for that purpose?Thank you,

A: I bought this lens exclusively for night photography. It was very sub-standard. Most of the reviews were glowing, but as an astrophotographer I found it to be one of the worst I'd ever used. Wide open to f1/4 or even to f2.5 it gave me VERY bad stars around the edges of the frame all the way into about 1/3 of the image all around. The stars in those areas looked like large comets. You had to stop it down to about f4 to see any noticeable improvement. Also, I like to put a star filter over my lenses to create the starburst effect on my shots, but since this lens protrudes out the front of the barrel you can't put filters on it. I returned the lens.Oh, I have seen a few good reviews on this lens for astrophotography. I should note that I DO NOT just look at my photos on a computer screen. I sell my work, usually in 20 x30 prints, but sometimes in VERY LARGE (wall mural) sizes. So I CAN'T have comets for stars on the edges of my photos; they will be huge blobs when enlarged. I ended up buying the Nikon 20mm f1.8. It's not bad, even wide open.

Q: 10. Would eye af work with this lens?

A: Yes, Sigma 135mm F1.8 for Sony E supports eye focus.
