Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you remove the integrated ballhead and purchase a platform separately (if so, which one?) to use with a BH30?

A: An integrated ball head is not included with the purchase of the Really Right Stuff Ascend-14 Long Travel Carbon Fiber Tripod. The Really Right Stuff Ascend-14 Long Travel Carbon Fiber Tripod would be the tripod legs only; a ball head (or other tripod head) would have to be purchased as a separate accessory.

Q: 2. Will this work with my Sony A7rii and 16 - 35 mm lens?

A: No they wont. The A7 series lenses are E-Mount, and these tubes are for the A-Mount lenses.I would like to add that if you can find these tubes for E- Mounted lenses, Id recommend that you get them. Ive got no complaints at all with my A-Mount set....

Q: 3. Is the mount made of metal?

A: Yes, it's made of metal. It works well with my camera and lenses.

Q: 4. Does this only work for Nikon DX lenses? How about the FX lenses?

A: These tubes are compatible with all Nikon F type lenses (both FX and DX). The overview merely went out of the way to alert DX lens users that they can also take advantage of the tube set as well.

Q: 5. I was planning to use this with the 17-55mm kit lens that came with the D-70 many years ago with my new D750. Will this combo work for me?

A: There might be a issue due to the weight of the 17-55mm lens, but thats the only compatibility issue I can think of. These tubes will otherwise work on any Nikon F lens or body.

Q: 6. does it work on the nikon d3300?

A: yes, the electrical contacts are made to fit all nikon dslr

Q: 7. Can this tripod be used both with and without the center column. If so what else would needed for use without center column?

A: The Really Right Stuff Ascend-14 Long Travel Carbon Fiber Tripod can only be used with a center column. It does not need to be raised, but it needs to be in the tripod.

Q: 8. Just purchased these and am having an issue getting any image. Using the panasonic 12-35mm, i have used one and both extension tubes and still only get a blurry image of light. I've gotten very close (cm close) to an object with a tripod and have slowly backed away to test the range and still get nothing. i have used mostly manual focus but have also tried auto, and both do not change the blur that I am getting. has anyone else had this issue?

A: An extension tube increases lens magnification by an amount equal to the extension distance divided by the lens focal length plus the native magnification of the lens. If you are using both Vello tubes at 12mm, that is 26mm divided by 12 mm for a 2.17 magnification. Add the native magnification of .17 and you are at 2.34X. The minimum focus distance will be 57.2mm from you sensor. That is very close. Try a longer focal length or only the smaller tube at 35mm.Here is a great link to calculate the result of extension tubes:http://bit.ly/1UYQDzw

Q: 9. Will these allow you to reverse your lens for even greater magnification? I'm sure you'd have to shoot full manual if you did.

A: No, a reverse adapter is a different accessory and method to get macro closeness. If you are using G lenses with no aperture ring, the reverse method is problematic because you wont have aperture control. These tubes send the aperture setting to the lens from the camera.

Q: 10. Does it fit canon eos 550d?

A: Accoring to Gogole, the Canon 550D is the US Rebel T2i. This takes the EF and EF-s lens mount sizes. Yes, it will fir your camera.
