The white 3-in-1 Mini DisplayPort to VGA/DVI/HDMI Travel Converter from StarTech is a compact three-in-one solution for connecting your Mini DisplayPort source, such as a desktop or laptop, to a VGA, DVI, or HDMI display, TV, or projector. It can support resolutions up to 1920 x 1200, one video output at a time. If multiple connections are made, only one of the outputs will function. The 3-in-1 converter is also compatible with Thunderbolt devices as it utilizes the same port as Mini DisplayPort. This adapter is plug-and-play compatible and bus powered, so no extra driver, software, or power source is required. Simply connect the corresponding wires and devices, and you're good to go.

Q: 3. Will this allow the 3.5mm audio input to be used when the HDMI input is selected?

Q: 4. can this be used to connect a apple cinema display to Mac book pro?

A: This has a DVI input it would not be ideal for that use.

Q: 5. I have an older gateway windows 7 pc only a single gva output. I need a converter to hdmi and a vga splitter to run two monitors?

A: This device simply takes a digital HDMI signal and converts to an analog SVGA output. It will not provide you with any means of running 2 monitors. If you want the same display on 2 monitors you can use a splitter. You will need to buy a splitter that matches whichever output you choose to go with. So, if you buy this device, you will need a splitter that takes a single SVGA input and splits it into 2 XXXX output of your choice. If you are trying to get 2 monitors that Windows (I assume) will see as independent monitors, then you need a graphics card to do so, or device similar to TripleHead2Go (multi monitor adapter). In order to have Windows see independent monitors, you have to have some kind of hardware that will manage 2 monitors (either graphics card, or external graphics processor). I assume you want Windows to see 2 monitors, I recommend a new graphics card to do so.

Q: 6. Hello, I have to connect my vga laptop to my new hdmi TV. This will work ok? thanks

Q: 7. Does this support a 1080i59.94 signal in?

A: Yes

Q: 8. audio?

A: No it does not support audio.

Q: 9. Can I use this on a 4k or 5k retina display iMac to feed out put to a VGA monitor or to a TV with HDMI input?

A: MDP2DPDVHD will work with any Mini DisplayPort source and a DisplayPort, DVI or HDMI display. As long as the connecting devices utilizing these connections, the MDP2DPDVHD will work. Atha, StarTech.com Support

Q: 10. Will this switch allow my desktop to connect to a video projector (HDMI) and a VGA monitor to see the same images on both at the same time? I also have a VGA monitor, so these other two are for the extended screen, not my main screen.

A: I have been using this switch in one of our conference rooms for almost a year. It has worked flawlessly. Our laptops have both VGA and Displayport outputs. We use a passive cable to convert Displayport to HDMI, the HDMI then goes into the switch. If we need to use the VGA output of the laptop, we connect it to the switch. The switch does the conversion to HDMI. That way we only have to feed our monitor with HDMI. We run a single HDMI to the monitor. If you want to share the HDMI output of a laptop with an HDMI projector and an HDMI monitor, you would need to use an HDMI splitter. To use an HDMI projector, and a VGA monitor, you can use an HDMI to VGA adapter. I hope this answers your question.
