A: Yep.

Q: 2. Is this pretty much identical to the Samyang version?

Q: 3. Will this lens work with the D7000?

A: The AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED is compatible with the Nikon D7000.

Q: 4. Does this lens extend to zoom? Does it focus internally?

A: This lens does not have an internal zoom. This lens will actually start fully extended when at 24mm. It then fully collapses at around the 50mm mark and then extends out again when zooming to 70mm. When fully extended the lens protrudes about 3/4 of an inch from the barrel.

Q: 9. Will this lens fit on my nikon d5100?

A: Yes but because of the crop factor it will no longer be a 24-70. You will need to multiply these numbers by 1.6. You should stay with DX lens except for longer telephoto lens beyond 200mm

Q: 10. Wil this lens autofocus be controlled by Sony FS5 and FS7?

A: The autofocus works on current Sony models in video, such as the Sony A7S III, FX3 and FX6. Unfortunately, we were not able to test this lens on the FS5 or FS7 as they are discontinued models.

It's tough when you are about to take a shot and you wish you had on another lens. In many of those situations this is an absolute go to lens.

Although a little pricey this lens will not disappoint. It is heavy and the zoom is not internal, but the quality is worth it.

The Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 fills the gap between the 17-35mm f2.8 and the 70-200mm f2.8 and is a worthy companion to these other fine lenses. I've been shooting with this lens for about a month on both a D3 and D300 and am impressed with it's sharpness, quality of construction, and how comfortably it fits in the hand. This lens focuses as quickly and accurately as the other professional grade lenses from Nikon that I have. I'll use this lens for wedding, portrait, architural, and landscape photography.

After switching from DX format to FX format, I replaced my 17-55mm/2.8 with this lens and what an improvement. It's noticably sharper and unexpectly, much faster to focus. The depth and clarity is fantastic and build quality is top knotch. My only quip is that it extends pretty far while zooming - an internal zoom would have really made it perfect. Other than that, you can't beat it for a full frame lens.

There are about 220 reviews here full of accolades. They are all correct. I recently upgraded to a D700, and if there is anything the new Nikon FX format will do, it's expose sub-par lenses. I have shot with various 3rd party lenses in this focal range with DX cameras as well as film, and there were some pretty good lenses in there along the way. I have found that I wasn't so lucky with FX. Even some of the older film full frame Nikkors vignetted quite a bit on the digital FX sensors. Finally, I decided to man up and spend the money for this lens, and I am very glad I did. It and the 14-24 are the only lenses out there truly designed for the FX format, and it shows. The pros are numerous, IQ, focus, sharpness, etc. The cons about size and weight are legitimate as well. The is only one flaw that I have been able to find in the actual imaging, and that is very noticeable barrel distortion at 24mm. If you use Capture NX2, this is a very simple fix, and I am sure easily fixed in Adobe products as well. The combination of this lens, an FX body, shooting RAW and processing in Capture NX2 is going to be tough to beat. This lens is worth the money.

This lens is so nice I am having a hard time taking this lens off the camera! The only thing I wish is that it should have VR.

I had the nikon 28-70 and that was an excellent lens. I traded for this 24-70 and am amazed at the substantial improvement. Images are more vivid, with higher contrast, sharper, brokeh creamier and used for landscape, nature or wildlife, the subjects literally jump from the page. (Viewers have said the images pop.) The focal range is an excellent choice because of the broad range of applications. Highly recommended.
