The LOC from Millennia is an analog legacy phonograph-playback system that is custom tailored specifically for the needs of archiving and mastering professionals. Originally specified under contract for the U.S. government's Library of Congress, the LOC is handcrafted of Millennia's essential, 100% DC-coupled preamplifier and equalizer circuity for audiophiles requiring a sonically uncompromised phono signal path.

Employing a 100% discrete design topology from input to output, the LOC utilizes both discrete-bipolar and field-effective transistors to achieve Millennia's hallmark sonic invisibility. The unit accepts both line-level and phono-level inputs via gold XLR connectors, as well as unbalanced RCA connectors. The ten discrete outputs are provided on both gold XLR and RCA phono connectors.

There are 49 combinations of preset compensation curves for precise performance with all formats, including 33-1/3, 45, and a vast array of 78 RPM EQ formats. Additionally, there are 36 discrete gain steps of 1.5 dB per step to 60 dB, user-selectable capacitive and resistive loading, mono and polarity select switching for vertically grooved pressings, and stereo gain matching to 0.08 dB. There are a pair of Lundahl MC transformers included, but may be switched out of the signal path for true transformer-less operation.

Rounding out the feature set is a collection of four surgical filters, designed to isolate and correct problem areas associated with groove degradation and surface noise. The filters offer shelving and peak response with a number of user-selectable frequencies. The chassis is constructed from 16-gauge cold-rolled steel with a 3/8" / 9.53mm thick radiused-aluminum face panel. The LOC offers a universal power supply and ships with a standard IEC power cord.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will it work with a moving coil cartridge, connected between my turntable and my integrated amplifier?

A: This product is not a good choice for a Moving Coil cartridge. You'll get a weak signal that will need to be boosted, and there will probably be a lot more noise. Moving Coil carts tend to be very high quality, so it would be a shame to use the wrong preamp and not get all of the potential quality.

Q: 2. Pyle Pro Ultracompact vs Pyle Pro For my old Technics SL-Q200. PP999 Phono Preamplifier. Are they quality wise the same audio output?. I'm only a hobbyist and digitizing LP's. Thanks

A: Both the Pyle Pro Ultracompact Phono Turntable Preamplifier and the Pyle Pro PP999 Phono Preamplifier will deliver quality audio from their outputs in a similar manner. The Pyle Pro Ultracompact Phono Turntable Preamplifier has an extra output as well, which differentiates it from the PP999.

Q: 3. I am trying to hook up an old phonograph to a 90s Pioneer receiver (which still has a Phono input). The problem is the components are too far away from each other - probably need about 3 feet of RCA cable and ground extension. Do I need an item like this, or does Phono input offer enough boost to make the preamp moot? Thank you.

A: Should be fine without the preamp

Q: 4. Can I use it with a YOGA HT-81 to increase gain and reduce noise? Thanks

A: No; you can't. That is not what this is or what to does. This is designed for one specific purpose: it takes a low-level phono signal from a turntable, and increases the gain (by a specified, non-adjustable amount) while adding a specified (RIAA) equalization curve. What aren't you just looking at microphone preamps and mic-related products?

Q: 5. were is art deejay pre 2 made ?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventories Country of Origin is China. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 6. does this unit (PP444)come with power transfer for $13.78?

A: Yes

Q: 7. how do I install my PP999 as it came with no instructions?

A: Connect your turntable to the PP999 inputs and connect the PP999 outputs to a line level input on your receiver or amplifier.

Q: 8. Is this pre amp compatible with both moving magnet and moving coil cartridge types?

A: This preamp is suitable for all moving magnet (or moving iron) cartridges. Moving coil cartridges come in two flavors, low output and high output. This preamp WILL work for high output MC cartridges (such as the Denon DL-110 or the Dynavector 10x5) but it will NOT work for low output moving coil cartridges (such as the Denon DL-103 or DL-30x series). If you wanted to used a low output MC with the ART unit, you'd need an extra piece of hardware called a step-up transformer (a.k.a. SUT).

Q: 9. does this have the RIAA equalization built in?

A: No this Pyle Pro phono amp does not have RIAA . try this one instead. Link below copy link and paste on your browser. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/155434-REG/Rolls_VP29_VP29_Phono_Preamp.html/overview

Q: 10. I have a Marantz TT 42 turntable that I'm trying to connect to a Mac. This Art DJ PRE II isn't getting it done. No matter what I've tried with changing settings and levels I still have hum and distortion. I've relocated the TT and the MAC to other parts of the house just to see if it might be the power grounding of the house still no help. I had a Rolls VP 29 connecting them fine but it didn't last long at all until the power connection failed. This ART DJ seems to have an issue similar to the Rolls. It also has to have the power connection just right or it crackles and hums terribly. Anyone having the same issue or having any luck connecting a Marantz TT42? With the Rolls I even used it to connect a vintage JVC QL-F61 to several surround receivers and my MAC.

A: The ART DJ Pre II Phono Preamplifier is designed to connect to a stereo receiver or amplifier- The RCA connections provide Line Level Audio, suitable for Line Level inputs only. In/Out Connections RCA Maximum Output Level + 6 dBu (1.4 Vrms) While the Gain may be adusted to reduce the output level to a very low (Mic level), it is not recommended to connect to a Mic level input, as noise, distortion and hum may / will likely be present.

This is a great preamplifier for anyone that is looking not to spend a lot to add a preamplifier to their system that does not have a phono input. Its very simple to set up just add second pair of RCA connection wires plug them into your amp or receiver, plug in your turntable and you are ready to enjoy the magnificent world of vinyl.
B&P is a great company to do business with. I received my purchase before the estimated delivery date. It was well packaged to protect it.

Very happy with B&P and the Pyle Preamplifier.

Purchased an Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB Turntable. I needed something that would give my speakers a little more power! I read a number of online reviews about the Pyle Pro PP-999 Phono Preamplifier! Wow....this little unit adds a lot of volume to my sound system (...I didnt even have a problem with grounding issues). I plugged it in and it worked the first time! I highly recommend this product!

An audio pre-amp is required to connect an older turntable to a home theater system. The audible boost is now at the same levels as my other sources. I may need to get another one for my ION turntable as it's output is also db's lower than my amp can handle. It's too bad we keep needing to update our systems so often as the next new thing outmode's gear we've all spent considerable money and time investing in. From 4 &8 tracks tapes, reel to reel recorders, cassettes, video camera's and tapes, VHS recorders, and now CD's it would be better if they had all been marketed with a warning that they won't be anything more than an expensive fad for a short time, then will be extremely difficult to repair or replace nor enhance. BH seems to be the last bastion for those of us unwilling to just toss hundreds or thousands of dollars of outmoded gear in the trash bin because customer service was only a concept to be shunned after the sale is completed. May you stay in business for a long time to come.

As i sit here listening to my vinyl i have Pyle and B&H to thank for it. Amazing listening  to my old record collection. I Have purchased Speakers from Pyle Before.(outdoor/garage/ceiling for indoor house use). Always great sound and at incredable prices. Got to love quality and savings. My outdoor speakers are going on 8 yrs now. Still sound great. Just purchased the Plie Pro PP9999 Preamp. Set it up in 5 mins and boom my albums come back alive. A flashback to 1977! B&h had the best price and received it 2 days before promised. Always a pleasure dealing with B&H. Thank you for bringing my memories back. B&h and Plye are a winning combination for sure. Have to go now and flip my Grateful Dead album to side b.Ha!

I love being able to listen to vinyl both in my nice headphones as well as out of my speakers, so i was looking for a preamp/amp that would act as a preamp when i wanted to listen thru my speakers, and would act as a headphone amp when i plugged in my headphones. and all while not taking up a massive piece of real estate and massive chunk of change. this did just the trick!

With the addition of some shielded cables, i was able to get my setup exactly how i wanted it.

you might see some other reviews about audio bleed-over in the inputs, while this is true, as long as you have nothing playing on those other inputs, you won't be able to notice it.

This is an attractive, good sounding, compact phono preamp with plenty of punch. It’s well constructed and made in America! The EQ helps compensate for varying sound quality on records or offers quick adjustment for desired listening preferences. The bonus is having a couple of line level inputs so you can plug anything else in. It’s everything I need to play music through my 2-ch system with a passive crossover sub. No more, no less.
