Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Does this device work only for panning or can it be used to change a camcorder position and hold it?
A: It has two modes; automatic and manual. In Automatic, you can set a range of pan, and it will continue to sweep back and forth. It also has a plug-in remote control with four arrows, up/down and left/right. If you set the mode to manual, you can use the remote control to pan or tilt, and the device stays where it is when you release the arrow key. There's also a speed adjust on the remote so you can change how fast it moves when you press the arrow.
Q: 2. Is there any way to make this to be controlled wirelessly?
A: Yes, with the purchase of the CamRanger PT Hub AND the purchase of the CamRange (not the MP-360 & not the PT Hub, online searches can get confusing). The CamRanger provides the wireless connection to an iPad (any iOS device running latest iOS) and allows remote control of the camera functions by itself, but does not provide remote control of the MP-360. This device costs about $300-$350.The PT Hub connects the MP-360 to the CamRanger so the MP-360 can be controlled from an iPad using CamRanger application. This device costs about $120. Both the CanRanger and the PT Hub are needed to wirelessly control the MP-360 motorized tripod head. The CamRanger web site indicates an Android version of the CamRanger software is in the works.
Q: 3. What is max capacity in vertical mode?
A: We use a C300 with a 16-35 on it with no issues... along with 24 and 50 Canon Cine's
Q: 4. Is this sturdy enough to ship on an airplane without a hard case?
A: Having shipped cinematography gear around the world, I would not shipped this item on an airline without a hard case.
Q: 5. does this unit operate with a battery supply or must it be plugged in?
A: works slightly better plugged in but when power is not available, works on batteries
Q: 6. Has anyone used this with an FS7 or F3/F5 fully rigged?
A: If the camera/lens/battery/tripod head is under 22lbs, we see no reason any of those cameras would not work. Just don't try a 70mm IMAX camera on it.
Q: 7. Remote control and PS-260 AC PSU?
A: Yes, it includes it.
Q: 8. Is there an extension cable for the remote? I need to control this head from a distance of about 50ft. Is there a cable or cables I can use to extend the range of the remote controller?
A: Yes. BERE50 is the B & H number. I bought 2 20 ft extensions (BERE20). It pretty much matches the wifi distance on my Olympus Camera. Works well.
Q: 9. Lets say I'm shooting an interview where only the subject is seen, and I have 2 cameras, one wide and one closeup on the subject. Which camera angle would look better on the One Man Crew?--the wide or the CU camera?
A: Hi Andrew - great question. actually both would look great with the OMCD! we see pretty much even use of both shots so it's hard to say which is better. If you google axs dan rather big interview, they most often use the wide shot with the OMCD and a wide angle lens - it's a beautiful and subtle shot.they just aired sammy hagar interview you can see some of the wide shot here:https://a href= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-_NSfjwbjY target= _blank www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-_NSfjwbjY/avideomaker also shows the closeupa href= http://www.videomaker.com/video/watch/product-spotlight/17262-the-one-man-crew-in-action target= _blank http://www.videomaker.com/video/watch/product-spotlight/17262-the-one-man-crew-in-action/aone consideration is the wide shot covers more angle, so you have to make sure your background looks for closeup shots, the built-in positioning laser and curved track make nailing the shot (in focus, anchored in frame) super easy even with a tight frame and shallow focushope that helps!
Q: 10. The option AC power cord (Bescor PS-260), how long is the cord?
A: 20 feet
