Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work as a purely manually adjusted, non-TTL flash on a non-Canon camera? The specifications state it is manually adjustable from 1 to 1/64 power and the view of the flashs LCD suggests this is possible. Can the ratio of one side to the other also be set manually (button on flash labeled Ratio) or is this only available through the Canon menu? I want to use this both on Canon and non-Canon bodies. Thank you.

A: it can be operated in manual mode but i wouldnt suggest putting it on non-canon bodies as there are more pins than the standard center pin used in manual flashes so it is possible incorrect signals may damage the camera/flash

Q: 2. Will this work with a Canon EOS RP?

A: This flash is not compatible with the Canon EOS RP.

Q: 3. How powerful is the modeling light? With F-number is still workable?

A: I tried the flash and it works fine. Haven't as yet tried the modeling light when photographing, but when you turn it on it seems to be bright enough for close work. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Q: 4. Anyone able to get this working with the Canon 80D? I've been told only units manufactured after August 2016 are compatible.

A: I own an 80D and I also have the same ring light. It works fine but isn't very well made. After a few months the battery door broke so I bought a Canon MR 14EX II. It's better quality and I can use the Canon as a master.

Q: 5. Has the issue with the battery door failing been addressed?

A: Yes, the battery door issue has been addressed in the Yongnuo YN-14EX-C Macro Ring Lite for Canon Cameras.

Q: 6. is there a power save mode like the canon ring flash?

A: Custom Function 1 (C.Fn-01) in the Custom Function menu would be the Power Save Function option on the Yongnuo YN-14EX-C Macro Ring Lite for Canon Cameras.

Q: 9. where can I buy a replacement for the plastic battery cover? The thread was broken and it can't close.

A: Had the same issue!!! Mine broke too, it broke by otself!. A friend who bought the same flash, his broke too!! Very poor quality of this cover! What I did is taped it and placed wrapping paper around it. I know its not nice but it solved momentarily the issue. Have to send it to fix it. Everything is good about the flash except this! Poor quality!.

Q: 10. Will this ring flash work with the Yongnuo YNE3-RX Wireless Flash Receiver being triggered by the built in radio wireless on a Canon 77D?
