Right out of the box I was impressed with the build quality and brightness of these lights. I got them on a DealZone bundle and they were WELL worth it at almost half off. The bi-color is nice, but due to the nature of this tech, they do gain intensity toward the middle of the spectrum. Color rendering is good, I had good results setting my C100 to match the Kelvin of the lights (+/- 100K or so) and going from there. I highly recommend using some type of diffusion for these lights. Given the nature of any naked light, they will be harsh without some added diffusion. They are powerful enough to bounce so that would be another option for softening the light you use from them. Bottom line, I am very happy with the two I purchased, and I plan to pick up another 1 or 2 next time there's a sale!

For quick interviews with not much time to set-up lights this is the best! The true color, even lighting and adjustments are superb!

I recently bought two of these lights to photograph stills and make short videos. I like the fact that you have continuous light and can vary the quantity and color of the output. I haven't used them very much but will be doing so soon.

Just got a the LED500 Pro Bi-Color last week. I had borrowed a friends lights on a couple of jobs and was really impress. It great for fast setup and easy color balance. I shoot documentaries and have to be able to work quickly. This light is so much easier than using a soft box for interviews. Being able to battery power and color balance the light allows me to use locations I would never have used in the past.

I love this little light. Small with a lot of punch and a solid design, both in durability that will stand up to the rigors of varied production and in it's thoughtful build and acceptance of accessories. This light has become such a standard on most every set up that my feature gaffers have it ready (often to hollywood) at all times. Fantastic at night as just the right fill against the big back lights I use and just as useful during the day on walking shots, the LED500 delivers great punch for its size and beautiful color fidelity. From documentary to narrative to commercial, this unit goes everywhere with me.

Great light great price

I am more and more impressed with the lighting and lighting accessories from Dracast. LED lighting that is bi-color so I don't have to mess with color correction gels. This light does not disappoint. I am using it as a fill light along with the honeycomb filter which is quite excellent. You don't even need to use barn doors because the light is so focused in one area and there is plenty of light so I usually just dim it down to where I need it. The problem with many light even with barn doors is that you get a lot of spill where you don't want it. The honeycomb filter is the way to go for me. This light also comes with a soft box and barn doors. I have not used the soft box but it is only because the honeycomb works for me. It is great to have though I am not sure how much it will cut the light down. With the soft box you probably want to use it more for fill than a key light but that is my impression and not based on tests. The price on this light, with the discount makes it quite a value. Dracast continues to impress.

Totally great. Does everything as advertised and is a sturdy build. Absolutely no complaints. I bought two 500, now I want to get the 1000. Lightweight too. Easy to transport. Has a nice little satchel to carry them in. Runs cool as a cucumber.

I shoot a lot of interviews and projects inside gyms. These lights provide a lot of light for their size. I shoot on an URSA Mini Pro, and these lights just look beautiful on my subjects. I love that I can dial in the color temperature.

I also want to mention that I had a minor issue with the lights at first. I called Dracast customer service, and I got someone on the line right away. They helped me troubleshoot the issue and got it resolved that day. Very happy customer here.

In the last year, I've phased out using fluorescent instruments Kinos, Lowel Rifas, etc. because they're just too problematic for traveling. I flew to China with three Rifas and the big flo tubes were a royal pain. I looked at many manufacturer's LED solutions, but the tradeoffs were build quality vs. price. These Dracast LED instruments are in the sweet spot. Super sturdy aluminum bodies, nice adjustment mechanisms, and best of all, high-CRI LEDs that produce a flattering light at tungsten to daylight color temps. I shoot tons of corporate execs in their environments. So being able to quickly dial in the color temperature without pulling out a jelly roll is fantastic.
