Q: 1. Phantom

A: Yes, the unit does have Phantom Power.

Q: 2. Will the rode videomic rycote work flawlessly with this. And is this an worthy upgrade to my H1?

A: It should. You'll be able to plug it in, and play with the levels and such off the recorder. This should be a sufficient upgrade for you. This recorder has multiple functions in it, and it's form factor feels amazing.

Q: 3. Does this make 2 left and right mono channel? Meaning, will it make exact same left and right channel like you can do in Zoom Hn4?

A: Yes.

Q: 4. What is the frequency response?

A: I'm sorry, but Zoom does not list frequency response specs for the H5 or for the XYH-6 microphone capsule.

Q: 5. Can you input one shotgun mic into channel 1 and split into two channels internally with different levels one 0db, -20db for safety track?

A: When using the L/R input, in addition to the recording at the set input level, the recorder can also record a separate file at alevel 12dB below. For example, this backup can be used if the recording level was set too high, causing distortion.

Q: 6. Can I connect Sennheiser ME66/K6 mic to this?

A: Yes. It has 2 xlr inputs.

Q: 7. I heard bigger SD cards have slower start/boot times. what SD card does everyone use? how many gigs and brand? how long was the start up time?

A: Start-up time can vary from a few seconds to a minute or more. Stay with SanDisk cards that are no larger than the project demands. Stick with SDHC cards no larger than 32GB. 16GB or smaller work well for most projects.

Q: 8. Can I use the stereo mini plug input along with the 2 XLR inputs to record 4 chanels?

A: I haven't used it as stereo input, but i have used it as a mono input for another lavalier and it works great

Q: 9. using a XLR splitter from channel 1& 2 to a mic, do i use power from both channels or just 1? Any risk of damaging your microphone? i am looking to use 1 channel as back up -16

A: Turn off phantom power, but splitting the input is not recommended. Signal loss and noise might result.

Q: 10. Will this fit the Zhiyun-Tech Crane VERSION 2?

A: This is meant specifically for Version 1 of the Crane. It may not work with Version 2, which comes with its own case.
