This 3-stop, 100 x 150mm Kase Wolverine Hard-Edge Graduated Slim ND Filter is compatible with a Kase 100mm Filter Holder or other filter holders that can accommodate 100mm wide, 1.1mm thick filters. It helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a hard-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a hard-edged line of transition is particularly useful for images that feature horizons or any hard transition between the sky and land. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image, and this filter provides up to a 3-stop reduction in light from entering a lens.

Kase Wolverine filters are constructed from tempered, optical glass for shock resistance. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, while further enhancing clarity and color fidelity, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coatings. These coatings also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.

This 1.1mm thick graduated ND filter is designed to be 43% lighter and 45% thinner than a 2mm thick Kase graduated ND filter. This slim design can help prevent vignetting when used in a compatible filter holder along with one or two other 1.1mm thick filters. A padded pouch is included for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will it PLAY the audio from the stripe on the film? Please separate this from the question about whether it records anything. Clearly it does not.

A: Unfortunately Wolverine Data 8mm and Super 8 Movie Reels2Digital MovieMaker will not play the audio from the stripe on the film.

Q: 2. Regarding the the FPS question: We understand the end result is 30 FPS video. The question in order to purchase is: while recording, does it have the ability to run the film at 18 or 24 FPS?(no Super8 film was ever shot/originated at 30 FPS). thanks

A: It is of course correct that the standard speeds for Super 8 cameras are 18 and 24FPS. Having this device record at those speeds would have the film transferred at the correct and natural speed. However, I am sure the manufacturer defaulted to 30fps, the North American and Japanese TV speed, due to cost considerations. The workaround is to import the video to a NLE (Non Linear Editing) application and slow down the speed there. Not ideal but very close.

Q: 3. I just received my new unit and it seems to record very slow. In playback it shows the frame and not a movie. Help?

A: i have now converted 30 reels without issue, it is slow to capture but the output is always an MP4 that plays just fine.

Q: 4. Where can I find a 5 inch take up reel for 8mm film?

A: https://www.focusnordic.se/Gepe/Filmhjul has in the WEB-catalog if You not already have found any ask them:Telephone (Sales):+46 (0)31 336 2300FAX:+46 (0)31 44 63 33E-mail Sales:info@focusnordic.se

Q: 5. Are you able to set the machine to record at 18 or 24 fps instead of 30?

A: The only listed speed is 30FPS. We are of the opinion that no, other speeds are not possible.

Q: 6. I have some 8mm films that have sprocket holes on both sides of the film. The film is 15 - 16mmm wide. Will this work with these films?

A: No. If the film is 16mm wide, it's 16mm film, not 8mm film. This device will only digitize 8mm film and Super 8mm film. Super 8mm film is the same width as 8mm film, but has a slightly larger image size on the same width film.

Q: 7. Will one be available to accept 7 (400') reels?

A: At this time it is for smaller reels. This model is for 7 (400') reels, reflecta Super 8 Scanner B&H # RESUPER8FS MFR # SUPER 8.

Q: 8. I am having a problem playing back some of the files. What would cause this?

A: I'm sorry that you're having trouble. For this inquiry, it would be best to e-mail us to askbh@bandh.com so we can investigate further. Thank you.

Q: 9. Can I make a film transfer with open gate (in other words transfer the entire width of the film as to see the sprocket holes)?

A: My wife sent me a video of the device in action while I was at work. From what I could see it uses the sprocket holes to pull the film frame by frame into the scanner. The finished video didn't have any sprocket holes.

Q: 10. is there a download for the newest firmware V2.2? mine has V1.0 and I bought it just 1 month ago.

A: There are different versions of the firmware based on the serial number of the device. You should go to their support page and send them an email. They are usually quick to respond.
