Q: 1. Why would I add a 577 Quick Release plate? Looks like the head comes with a quick release.

A: It does, but I always buy extra plates because I have several different cameras and it's a pain in the butt to have to remove the plate from one camera to another. Also, if you are starting out and plan on buying more than one tripod, stay with the same brand so that you only need one style of plate.I made the mistake of buying 2 Davis-Sanford tripods when I started out and later wanted higher quality tripod/head system. That's when I changed over to Manfrotto and soon learned on set, that I didn't have the right plates and then had to switch plates on the go. (It was a real pain and inconvenient)

Q: 2. Will this work with an Ursa Mini 4.6k?

A: I have the Ursa Mini 4.6pro (shoulder rig/V-Mount plate with a matte box, follow focus, and shotgun microphone attatched ) and these sticks work just fine. Understandably a wee bit front-heavy, but the pans and tilts are liquid smooth.

A: Hi,I would recommend using a 2ft slider on this tripod with a relatively light camera.At most you could get by with a Black Magic Cinema Camera and/ or a Canon c300. If I were to pick a specific slider I would go for the Kessler pocket slider/ dolly, not the cine slider.Hope this helps,regards,Chris

A: The MVH502A Fluid Head and MVT502AM Tripod I think is an excellent choice. It actually has more capacity then needed for the job. However, having that extra capacity I find to be reassuring insurance in avoiding a tip over. This combination would be safe up to about 32 as well with that camera. Over that distance, we recommend a second stand or tripod. Not only for safety but for solid, stable support.
