Ilford Ortho Plus is a medium speed black and white negative orthochromatic film that is especially well-suited for continuous tone copy or reproduction work, as well as for half-tone, technical, and forensic applications. It has a nominal sensitivity of ISO 80/20° when exposed under daylight conditions, or ISO 40/17° when exposed under tungsten lighting, and can be developed in standard black and white chemistry. Additionally, since the film is only sensitive to blue and green light, it can be handled under red safelight conditions and developed by inspection for precise processing control. Its high-resolution, fine grain structure and long tonal range also make it ideal for producing faithful reproductions of original artworks and documents, as well as for photomicroscopy.

This item is one 36-exposure roll of 35mm film and comes in a cartridge that has been DX coded for ISO 80.

Q: 1. HOW DO YOU LOAD THIS FILM INTO A BELL AND HOWELL 8MM MAGAZINE CAMERA?

A: Sorry, but you cannot load this into any 8mm movie camera. This is a Super 8 pop-in cassette where the film has smaller perforation holes than the perforations of 8mm film. For your camera, you need this black and white film which is the only one in the world that will work with your camera. Q: 5. Will this work as a substitute for the Kodachrome 40 (K40) film cartridge?Asked on 12/11/2013 by Dave from CanadaI'm curious about this as well, I would love to be able to use this in my Kodak xl 55 or 33. Perfect cameras for older folks with unsteady hands.

A: Yes the film can be used instead of the K40 film but the K40 film is a positive film and the visions is a Negative film.

Q: 6. Does this film work for Elmo Super 8 Sound 350SL Macro?

A: The ELMO 350SL can shoot both silent or sound film (sound film was discontinued by 1999 but is often still available via eBay and private vendors). The camera's light meter cannot index this film to the ISO 500 but, even so, in low light conditions where the meter will open the aperture fully, the extra exposure power this film offers, can still yield decent images. Only when pointed at a bright light source will there be significant exposure error. So, for dim light and night time use only on this camera, and I recommend running a test first before committing it to a given project. You only have to shoot a few feet of it, and then use the rest of the film up in another camera it works well in. If you don't have another camera, then you might want to use manual exposure mode via the EE Lock and using a handheld light meter set for ISO 500 etc.

I have no reason to buy any other 120 BW film. I’ve been using hp5 since the 90’s and I’ve yet to find a better option. Pushes and pulls perfectly. Rendered well with filters or without.

I use this film frequently it’s perfect for a variety of applications especially outdoors and use 35 mm as well as 120. It has great latitude and is very forgiving spell C and shattered areas. I probably shoot anywhere from 3 to 5 rolls a week on the street as well as landscape.

HP5 is a very flexible film that performs well in all matters of lighting situations while giving a great amount of contrast. This film is my favorite for black and white simply because of its balance between bright highlights and dark shadows.
