Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a programmable API for this product?

A: Hi, I made one by replacing the remote controller with an IO-Device (Eth32). Combined with an QT based lib for connection to ATEM switch from Black Magic Design, I use a joystick to control the camera in Program/Preview View.

Q: 2. does this kit include the remote control?

A: yes it does!

Q: 3. Will this work for astrophotography?

A: Not just the head, all the controls are manual and the movements are to fast. There may be an additional controller for it that would allow you to do that. But alone is just manual pan and tilt with the controller. Hope that helps.Todd

Q: 4. Any problems to mount this whole unit sideways (vertically) for a wide vertical rotation range instead of horizontal?

A: This head is meant to mounted horizontally. It would be a custom operation to set up vertically. It may be possible, but it is not something we recommend.

Q: 5. Can this handle a Sony FS700 with lens ? - the cam is 4lb - with lens - probably hit 6lbs easily

A: The MP-101 can actually support up to 6 lbs, so if the camera you have is only 4 pounds it will work on it.

Q: 6. Can it be controlled by a computer?

A: The Bescor Motorized Pan & Tilt Head Kit with Remote Extension & AC Adapter as is does not work with a computer. There might be possible options but none specifically made for it to interface with a computer.

Q: 7. Does this come with a carrying case?

A: No. The following unit does not come with a carry case.

Q: 8. I have my video cam on a 20 foot pole with handle bars to pan with. All I want to do is a tilt as in getting the perfect angle is next to impossible at 6 feet and them moving the cam up to 20 feet. Also when zooming the cam it needs a tilt to remain on the action. Looking at the specs it loos like it's set for certain degrees on tilt. Is this true or can you make small tilts? TIA, G

A: You can make tiny changes in the tilt. From level it will tilt up or down about 30 degrees.

Q: 9. Can I lock it to only do the tilt function? We don't want to hit the pan by mistake.

A: The Bescor MP-101 Motorized Pan & Tilt Head does not have a pan or tilt lock.

Q: 10. i want to use this with water drop photography, can i make very small adjustments in the angle up and down.? somtimes i will only need to use it for fraction of an inch. AL

A: Yes, depending on the lens. I use it with a portrait lens and it is pretty fine movement. If you're trying to use a macro, it may not be as accurate as you may want. Telephoto seems to be okay. Also, it uses batteries or external power (that may be extra). It moves slower and more accurately on the batteries. Has a manual setting with a wired remote about 4 ft long. With the manual setting you have not quite 360 degrees horizontal movement. Manual also has up and down movement of about 30 degrees total. Auto movement is only side to side, set to 45, 90 and 340 degrees.
