Q: 1. will this with olympus E-PL1 ?

A: I use it with Panasonic Gx7 and works fine It should also work with olympus E-PL1

Q: 2. Can you control the zoom on this lens using the Blackmagic Studio camera and LANC control?

A: Yes, you can. Note release from BMD here: We've just released Camera v1.9.8 which adds MFT zoom control for the Studio Camera and Studio Camera 4K via a connected LANC to the following lenses:Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Power O.I.S. Q: 3. Is there a 2x lens extension that works with this lens?

A: Unfortunately there isn't a 2x teleconverter for this lens.

Q: 4. Is there a wide angle adaptor that will work with this lens?

A: Being that this Panasonic lens has a front diameter of 46mm, the Raynox HD-6600PRO-46 Wide Angle Conversion Lens (0.66x), BH # RAHD6600P46 would fit. However, it may interfere with the autofocus performance and lower the image quality.

Q: 5. Are the zoom and focus rings on this lens covered with rubber? How are the lens coatings on this lens? Thank, Larry

A: Hi Larry, the rings are made of hard rubber and have a very good grip. They aren't made of plastic as the ones in the original camera lens(14-42mm). I'm very happy of this lens, it's very gradual also in the manual mode. I usually use it for take video and the power zoom is probably better that the one in my canon xl1s.

Q: 6. Can the zoom and focus of this lens be controlled with the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro, focus and zoom demand accessories?

A: Yes, the Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 45-175mm f/4-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens is compatible with the Blackmagic Design Zoom Demand and the Blackmagic Design Focus Demand.

Q: 7. Does this lens extend / get larger when zooming or does it have internal zoom like the Panasonic 35-100 mm 2.8 keeping the same size in length?

A: No, it does not extend as it has internal zoom.

Q: 8. I have a Panasonic GH3, what micro four thirds lens would anyone recommend for capturing outdoor sports videos like soccer? Is the Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 45-175mm f/4.0-5.6 ASPH. Lens a good fit for my purpose? Thanks, Ef

A: Because it has a built in zoom control on the barrel I find it lets me get a decent smooth variable speed zooms for video purposes. So compared to the other Panny micro 4/3 lenses that are really photography oriented this is a good way to go. But don't confuse this with an expensive eng lens. This is not parfocal. So it will be up to the contrast based auto focusing in the GH3 to try to keep things sharp. Depending on the situation and the kind of zoom you're trying to execute the camera may be playing some catch up with your moves. It also doesn't have the kind of zoom range you would find on an eng lens, probably not as fast, and zoom control isn't anywhere as flexible. But if you get used to how it works I don't think it's a bad choice. Especially for the cost. I have a GH3 as well and have been most satisfied with the performance of this lens on it. It's got decent image stabilization. But for video you'll definitely want to use a good tripod and fluid head. As for the quality of the image, I'm no gear head so I can't comment on it technically, but I will say that I have been very happy the results. So yes, with a little patience and effort I think this can work successfully for your purpose - as long as you keep your expectations realistic.

Q: 9. Will the zoom control work with BMPCC 4K using the ATEM Production Studio 4K? And if so, would that work with Optical HDMI?

A: Yes, the ATEM CCU control provided with the Blackmagic Design ATEM Production Studio 4K Live Switcher will allow zoom control of the Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 45-175mm f/4-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens with the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, but control needs to be through SDI conversion. Consider adding the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G (with Power Supply) BH #BLBCSDIHDM3P. The switcher needs to send a program feed to the converter while it is receiving the SDI video feed from the converter. See the link below. https://bhpho.to/3I2T3cm

Q: 10. is this lens compatible with an olympus omd em1iii? can i use the olympus android app (on my tablet) to zoom the lens automatically?

A: The Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 45-175mm f/4-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. is compatible with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III, but it is not compatible with the Olympus app.
