Samyang 24mm T1.5 Cine Lens For Canon Ef-mount
- Product Code: ga242846

The Samyang 24mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF-Mount was developed primarily for film and video applications. The cine version of Samyang's 24mm lens features industry-standard gearing for the focus and aperture ring, and the aperture ring has been "declicked" for smooth iris pulls. The aperture and focus scales have also been relocated to the side of the lens, where it is easier for focus pullers to read them.
The Samyang 24mm cine lens is compatible with full-frame sensors. APS-C sensors with a crop factor of 1.5 will exhibit a 35mm equivalent angle-of-view of approximately 36mm. The optical construction is comprised of 13 lens elements arranged in 12 groups. Four elements are low-dispersion glass (ED), plus two aspheric elements. The 24mm features Ultra Multi Coated (UMC) multi-coated lenses for improved light transmission and resistance to ghosting and flares.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Does this lens suffer from the same focus issues wide open as the previous lens? (I.e. very soft at 1.5 and doesnt get sharp until 2.8?)
A: We looked and were not able to find the specific issue you are mentioning with this company's lenses. Generally speaking, the Samyang/Rokinon lenses are remarkable values. Generally customers are very happy with the image and build quality particularly for the price they are paying. I would say that the general rule of thumb that any lens is sharper, has better contrast and color 2 stops down from wide open, applies here. That being said, I don't think you will see a great difference here.
Q: 2. What is the different with Samyang 35mm T1.5 Cine DS Lens for Sony E-Mount ?Only the price and the Rokinon ? https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1078637-REG/rokinon_ds35m_nex_ds_35mm_t1_5_cine.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1078637-REG/rokinon_ds35m_nex_ds_35mm_t1_5_cine.html/a
A: There is no difference between B&H # SA35T15SE and B&H # RO3515SE.
Q: 3. What is the multiplier when used on the JVC GY-LS300 MFT mount with super 35 Sensor? Is it 1.5x or 2x?
A: JVC GY-LS300 MFT is 35% larger than a standard MFT
Q: 4. is it comaptible with Nikon D650 ?
A: Yes, the Samyang 85mm T1.5 VDSLRII Cine Lens for Nikon F Mount is compatible with the Nikon D610 DSLR Camera, the Nikon D750 DSLR Camera, and any Nikon DSLR camera that accepts offers the Nikon F Mount.
Q: 5. What are the major differences between this lens and the previous 85mm VDSLR?
A: Based on the information available, we say there is one principle difference between these two versions of lenses. It appears to be that the II version has a longer focus scale or throw. As a former motion picture camera assistant, I can tell you this is a good thing. With a bigger scale, you can find 5'8 much more easily than trying to find the same thing on a common still lens or the VDSLR I for that matter.
Q: 6. Im sorry but one more question. Even in the still version are optically the same?thank you in advance.Oun
A: Please ask questions! That is what we are here for, your questions. The price difference is for the body of the lens which is made to a higher, more precise tolerance, and has gears, horizontal scales and a clickless aperture ring. The image quality on a focused subject will be about the same for both lenses. There may be breathing (image size change) while follow focusing if you use the still lens for video.
Q: 7. Can you clarify difference about DC, AS IF UMC & VDSRLII styles?... Its all about ring position?Which is best for video?
A: If you have an assistant pulling focus, get the Rokinon DS or Dual Side focus marked lenses. They also will be better color matched if you get more than one lens. Otherwise Samyang and Roknion are pretty much the same quality and all made in the same factory. Roknion may have a better resale value.
Q: 8. What is the different with Samyang 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF?
A: With professional gear the difference is often subtle and the necessity of a feature vs its cost is not readily apparent. But once on set, you want to work as effortlessly as possible and cost becomes less relevant and features more so.What you are getting with Samyangs VDSLRII line of lenses is their top quality consumer grade cine lenses. This means they have the all-important matched color/sharpness required for simplified post production color grading. The other plus is having the gear rings in the same place so that when you swap lenses, the follow focus and the aperture control systems do not have to be adjusted back and forth on the 15mm rods. This saves time and effort on set. If you compare the two lenses in the photos, you will see that the focus gear is more to the rear on the Samyang 35mm T1.5 VDSLRII. Of course, whether or not the $180 extra is worth it for this feature is entirely up to you.
Q: 9. What is the difference with the Rokinon 35mm 1.5 Cine DS lens?
A: The Samyang 35mm T1.5 VDSLRII Cine Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount and the Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine DS Lens are both made by Samyang and are identical.
Q: 10. If I purchased this lense for my Sony A7S, what would be the main difference between it (Samyang 35mm T1.5 VDSLRII) and the Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine AS UMC Lens for Canon EF Mount? I know that the differences are very, VERY subtle. I'm using it for professional film-making and I'm using an adapter.
A: Samyang is the company that makes Samyang, Rokinon and some Bower lenses. Of all these lenses, the Rokinon DS lenses, with their Dual Side focus markings and stricter coating color matching, are considered the top of the line. All the other lenses they make are below that and are the same quality since they they are all made by the same designs, materials and people. So in this case, we are of the opinion the Rokinon and Samyang 85mm have the same optical, mechanical, and build quality and the final question comes down to the brand name. Here Rokinon has the bigger reputation and you pay a little more for it. That has the added advantage that it will help when it comes to sell it.
