A: You can ONLY set it via the camera. If you want to manually set it on the lens, then you have to buy the other version without the chip. I'd advise you just get the one with the chip, it makes focus checking A LOT easier. I've used both before and the chip version is just a lot more convenient. Plus, its easier to change when you're in the dark. It will save you a lot of headaches.
