The 16TB DSSRV2-160RD-D Digital Sentry H.264 Network Video Recorder from Pelco is optimized to deliver essential hardware support for the DS NVs video management software (VMS) without the risk of integrating hardware and software.

Boosted by the 4th Generation Intel Xeon processor and 16 GB of RAM, the Digital Sentry NVR provides an optimal combination of processing power and reliability to meet the demands of HD video recording and playback operations. The system is powered to support up to 128 combined IP and analog video streams, with up to 64 analog cameras supported via the optional ENC5416 directly attachable encoder (sold separately). Analog streams are also supported using Pelco and third-party encoders.

The NVR delivers total available throughput of 350Mb/s for recording of analog and IP video streams as well as playback and export through the DS ControlPoint client. When determining the maximum number of cameras and the desired frame rate to host on every system, the number of concurrent client connections, the number of streams likely to be viewed in playback on each client, and the bandwidth required to support the client connections must be taken into consideration.

The NVR functions as a stand-alone system or as part of a network of servers, monitored from the DS ControlPoint user interface. The system can be deployed solely as a network video recorder, as a digital video recorder (DVR), or as a hybrid NVR.

Thanks to the 2 gigabit network ports, handy network architecture planning is facilitated by allowing 1 port to be dedicated to IP cameras, while the second network port is used for client connections. 2 DVI-D ports provide a convenient connection for high-resolution digital monitors for use with HD cameras.

The NVR incorporates a SSD system drive. With increased read-write speeds and no moving parts, the SSD system drive increases the reliability, uptime, and responsiveness of the system. The 16TB SSD drive is hot-swappable when configured for internal RAID 5 storage with the optional RAID 5 controller card (sold separately). External storage is supported through USB attached storage or by using the DSSRV-SCSI interface card (sold separately) connected to DX8100HDDI storage of up to 24TB. The external storage can be configured for JBOD storage of software-controlled RAID 5 storage. The unit comes with a US power cord.

Front panel LED displays on the recorder provide heads-up information on system operation. The LEDs are integrated with the new Digital Sentry System Information (DSSI) utility, providing critical, real-time statistics on system resource utilization, temperature, and throughput status. This unit is DIACAP (Department of Defense (DoD) Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process) certified.

The Intel NUCs hit in (almost) every way for a mini PC. If you can use a small but powerful machine, definitely consider one of these. Here at B&H I got the barebones i3 kit (without the drive or any memory) and installed MS Windows, memory, and the drive myself.

Two tips for self-installers based on the other reviews: 1) Pressing the power button for three but *not* four seconds takes you to a menu allowing you to set options like boot order, make sure LAN is turned on, etc. 2) If installing Windows 11, you might only need to download the wireless driver to a USB and run the driver installer from there after Windows install to get connectivity. Afterwards, Windows Update will help you take care of the rest of the drivers, BIOS updates, etc.

Works perfect for my use. Just need windows 11, SSD, and ram and you are good to go. Just be aware the drivers are now from ASUS since they are the new company that is making the NUC.

Bought this to serve as a Plex Media Server, on the back of my Synology DS918+. Total overkill, really, but I've been wanting something more powerful than the Synology to transcode high bitrate videos. This NUC more than does the job. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS installs without issues. If you're looking to run a Linux server on one of these, you can't go wrong. Idle usage is ~10W, peak usage around 90W, but it hovers around 50-60W most of the time when it's in use.

Bought this to use as my HTPC. It is powerful enough that I ditched my main desktop (3rd gen. i5 with 4 cores) in favor of this. It has fast ethernet, WiFi and bluetooth. The processor can reach 4.5 GHz turbo frequency. A total of 8 cores are visible in Windows 10. Every application runs faster compared to my desktop (which was not
a slow animal). There are slots for a 2280 and 2242 NVMe plus one 2.5 SSD. The 2242 connector is specified for B-key which is not common in current marketplace. I am running two HDMI displays at 4k@60Hz. The box is about as warm as my palm - can't feel any higher or lower temperature. Two USB-B ports in the front and 2 in the back. Two USB C ports also in the back. Power supply is 90W. I am happy with this purchase. I will recommend this without hesitation.

This is a very powerful compact PC. It was well packaged and is easily assembled. It comes apart very easily. Unscrew the four screws on the base. It has thermal padding for the SSD's. Extremely fast, single core scores. It does run hot, but the fan sound when running is not annoying.

This machine replaced the aging NUC5 on my wife’s desk. I set it up with enough DRAM and storage that she should be set for another eight or nine years. Very smooth assembly and software setup, great performance on the usual office apps, extremely quiet.

I bought two of these to replace Roon music servers on a Mac in one location and a PC in the other. Roon provides a free operating system for NUCs optimized for their use as Roon servers. I am much happier with these than the servers operating on the PC or Mac. On both of those systems, the server frequently crashed, and could not consistently play music to two sets of speakers without an echo. The NUC has been absolutely bullet proof. It is silent, and is much more responsive than the servers on the other computers. Very satisfied.

This is fast and very compact. The barebones unit comes easy to assemble. Intel support is good. The only downside it the plastic case. They used to be metal so this seems not as nice but is so far performing well. It does throttle quickly with this form factor but has snappy 1 core performance.
